    San Antonio, Texas - September 28th 2004...

...anyone got pics from the gig? This was my first concert.

I remember someone posting a YouTube video w/ photos very, very close to the stage. I think it got taken down due to music copyright issues since it featured a live version of Panama from RHRN.
But then again, this video was posted during the early era of YouTube and it didnít get a chance to survive how things go nowadays.

    Got 5150?

That was the first thing I thought of...what a great picture. I would like to buy another copy just so I could remove the cover and frame it, I might just do that!

The credits say that photo was taken by Jon Sievert who was an editor and photographer for Guitar Player. Which rung a bell with me . If I am correct, the guy was from north west ohio and attended BGSU. He still has family around here. I knew guy who knew them. He was a staff photographer for the Toledo Blade for a while then he became a concert photographer and moved on to bigger and better things. He photographed everyone. He didn't really do portraits like an Annie Leibowitz he mostly photographed in concert and literally wrote the book on it. .

A search of Jon at getty images says that photo was from Oakland 1982. "Oakland Coliseum Arena on September 15, 1982 " Oakland...of course

Thank you, Daisy for the info and the link. I have been thinking about looking into purchasing a print, I haven't looked into it yet, because I am guessing buying a professional print would be wildly expensive. I'll be checking this out later when I have more time. Thanks.

Yep- He was from Ohio but unfortunatley passed away last year. Ugh. RIP. :

I was going to click to answer the post before but noticed the question was also asked & answered in the Random Stuff thread the same day.

    Yes- It is wildly expensive.

But- I recently noticed this past year we can now purchase prints directly from Getty Images in various sizes & prices. I think its fairly new or I just never noticed before, but compared to buying directly from the photographers I think the prices are actually very fair & reasonable.

Especially in this case if you wanted a print of the Rolling Stone cover pic taken by Jon Sievert who is no longer with us. RIP.

Hardest part is choosing which photo to get.

I haven't ordered one yet either but narrowed it down to 2 or 3 choices from photographer Ross Halfin or Fin Costello taken in England in 1978.

Awesome. I haven't looked at prices yet, but I'm hoping I can afford something...do they sell wallets?? Hahaha Seriously though, how cool would that be, to have a good quality, classy photo of Edward Van Halen to hang in the living room.

I look forward to checking them out tomorrow.

So I ate at this McDonalds all the time growing up and had no idea. It had been remodeled since then into the more modern look, but it's crazy how close I lived to an iconic VH moment being here in St. Louis and otherwise removed from so much of VH history. In fact, we just ate at the Italian restaurant right across the street for my brother's birthday about a week ago.
CNN may think my opinion matters, but you shouldn't.

These stories are always the same. "They didn't have enough money" to buy this or that. I get the starving musicians aspect but damn I find it hard to believe these guys didn't have $50 in their pocket to buy a pair of shoes or a coat. They always have money for beer, drugs, and Mikey D's though.
