Lyrical 'story' behind Me Wise Magic??

I have seen the reference, in passing, that MWM was the name of a race horse. Is this true? Was this part of the inspiration behind the lyrics as well?

Anyone? Bueller?

I have an interview with EVH from the Nov 96 Guitar World where he says that the line "I know what you're thinking" was written prior to Dave even seeing or hearing the song. Eddie doesn't mention who actually wrote the line, but I guess you could assume that Eddie wrote it.

In Crazy From The Heat -book Dave says that the band (Ed, Al & Mike) thought the new song was about self exploration and spiritual enlightment, but that he brought a new angle to it.

He doesn´t explain the angle in any detail, but using a name of a race horse would definately be a part of that.

My interpretation of the lyrics is that Dave is saying that he's on the side of the fans. He knows what we want. He knows that Van Halen are gonna fuck it up, realise too late and have to retread their steps and reunite with him again. CGTSNM has a similar theme. "Outside the wire somethings moving, the barn burned down now I can see the moon."

IMO equates to "I heard that they've got something else in the pipeline, now their cover's blown I know exactly whats going on" (i.e. they've already got a new singer)
