Van Halen on the Radio In SWEDEN

Hi! 8)

I'd always wonder how much Van Halen they play on your Rock Radio Stations. I mean, I live in Sweden, Stockholm(the capital) and I believe I'm one of the only ones from Sweden around here on the links, but I'm a VERY great fan of VH!

Well anyway to the question, We got a rockstation in Sweden called "106.7 Rock Klassiker" and they play maybe 5-7 Van Halen tracks a day. Thats pretty much for being a Swedish rock-station.

The five most common songs are:

Panama
RWTD
Dreams
Love Walks In
Ain't Talkin' Bout Love
Drop Dead Legs

Do you thinks its a wierd combination of songs? For being Sweden? Haha.

Well, which songs are most common on your station, and how many VH-tunes can you expect to hear one day?

It's always cool to see that there are fans of the mighty VH all over the world. Our local station here in St. Louis, K-SHE, plays them all of the time. I"m way more into satellite radio now. On Sirius, Buzzsaw and Hair Nation play them all the time; as they obviously should.

That's even alot for an Australian rock-station. Our main rock station here "104.9 Triple M" only gives us the hits:

Jump
Panama
Hot For Teacher (this one's very rare but I hear it on ocassion)
Why This Can't Be Love
Dreams
California Girls
Just Like Paradise
You Really Got Me (happened to hear this late one night when they were doing a countdown from 1977. The announcer liked it so much that he just had to play it again for a second time back-to-back)

You'll have to excuse me, I'm not fluent enough to continue with my typing in Swedish. I haven't listened to the local classic radio stations to know how many times VH is played.

Yes, I'm Canadian with Norwegian and Swedish ancestry. I studied the language about 17 years ago. It takes a while for me to think how to say things. I have the books, mp3s, and a dictionary to help me out when I'm stumped.

I've never heard them play Panama or Hot For Teacher. They do regularly play When Its Love as well.

I've never ever heard WIL get played, mate. I think the only time I heard HFT was when they played it back-to-back with 'Jump'. 'Panama' is a regular from time to time here in Sydney.

Just yesterday at work we changed our stations to "WSFM 101.7" for the old classic/easy listening which we never listen to and 'Jump' got a bit of airplay. Typical, hey? lol.

Interesting that you hear Drop Dead Legs. I don't think I have heard that on the radio here in the last 20 years.

Boy, the Drop Dead Legs thing floored me. One of my all-time favorites, for sure. Never hear it on the radio.

In Toronto they play A LOT of VH... VH is a religious experience for DJ's up here... they always have to comment about VH in conjunction with the song being played...

Hey Lodewijk:

I've got a friend in Stockholm (I guess he still lives there)...I've tried to find him online...I was wondering if you would be willing to look him up for me. If you are, I'll PM you with his name, etc. He and I became good friends many years ago when he was an exchange student at my high school...we visited and stayed in touch for many years but I haven't heard from him in about 5 years.
