Alex Van Halen being one of them. He's said before that he hates that song. I don't really care for it much these days either.

You know for the record, this guy may not be the biggest Van Halen fan (yet), but he is a great writer and has some great thoughts on the currtent state of music as a whole. Not to mention, he does share shomthing that we all do...a great passion for music!!!

I have been reading his colums for a few years now and I can tell he has turned me onto some music I never knew existed...if you subscribe to his letter, you will receive his artlices alomost on a daily basis...it like music is a great escape from the ho-hums of life...

Great article. Lefsetz is great, I listen to him almost every Sunday night, he has a radio show on 97.1 in LA. He knows his rocknroll. Still plays vinyl.

both of Lefsetz's articles were great reads. he hit the nail on the head with both tunes. and whoever hipped him to "Secrets" good job. I think when all is said and done that's one of, if not my favorite song VH ever did. and he described it perfectly what's so great about the song. i loved when VH would go off the map a lil' with a song be it "Secrets" or "could This Be magic." i couldn't help but thinking in my head they must've been havin' so much fun recoding tunes like that, that werent their normal style.

I think the Rock n Roll HOF should take a read of these when wondering if VH deserve to be in their little rich boy club. it seems to mean something to some of the VH guys and some of the fans to have them in the Hall. I think the place is a goof. A hall of fame for rock n roll? that's what rock n roll was always supposed to be against. but whatever it exists and there's nothing we can do about it. Bands feel the need to be inducted and so VH deserves to be there and should be. And Hopefully Jann Wenner will allow his ego to take a hit and let VH in after all.

Gotta give this guy credit for hitting on what I felt, at 13 years old in 1978, listening to "Jamie's Cryin" (on vinyl) by my favorite band Van Halen. He did a pretty good job representin' the female, teenaged POV. Took me back anyway.

Maybe it's a "gurl" thang. Jamie's Cryin' was never my fav song on that album (Atomic Punk took the title), but I loved the premise, and the background vocals. It definitely fueled my DLR fantasies.
