Does anybody here think that when Roth comes back, the boys can tour into their late fifties/early sixties like the Stones? (Ugh, don't get me wrong, I love the Stones early stuff, but I wouldn't see them now, if I want to see cadavers, I'll go to a morgue). More importantly, do you WANT them to tour that long? Or do you think they should hang it up after a few successful tours with Roth?

Achievements:
Some of these rock stars are like freaks of nature. It's like they don't age in certain respects. Mick Jaggers' face always looked old but his body still thinks it's 1965. Now Dave has lost some hair (much less at 45 than I've lost at 29
) but physically he's like Jagger, he isn't aging. I know even Dave talks about the bumps and bruises, but to be able to do that drum riser jump at his age is unbelievable.
I can't really see Van Halen still recording and touring in ten years time. That's partially due to physical reasons, but also to do with personality reasons. I think the Stones do an awesome job at what they do, and I don't think they embarress themselves. If Van Halen can do that too, more power to them and I'll be happy to keep buying the records and seeing the shows.

As old as the Stones are, and as old as they look (Keith especially), they still rock. I saw them in 1997 and was not disappointed in the least. But despite the amount of drugs Keith Richards did in the 60's and 70's, he's in fairly good shape. We all know that isn't true of Eddie and Alex. Both their bodies have sufferred greatly for their alcoholism. For that reason, I don't see them pushing 60 on the road.

I have a feeling that this reunion will last 1 album and 1 worldwide tour and that's it. Hopefully, I'm wrong and we'll get a few out of them.
Dave is looking great and has always taken good care of his bod. (except I think he's still smoking too much) He stays active and enjoys physical activity. I can not imagine him looking as unhealthy as Mick and Keith. He has got much better muscle tone than these two ever did.

I've been wondering that same thing. Has Mick had any of the problems Ed has had. I mean christ...if Ed thought he had cancer...wouldn't you think Keith Richards would be dead by now? Good lord. I don't know...after the recent health concerns, I don't know if VH has that kind of longetivity, unless they get fucking bionics or cryonics...or some shit like that. I mean damn...I think Sammy may outlast them...and he's what...70? Just a joke gang...just a joke...
My point is...I'm hoping for the best...but I'm not sure the health is gonna be there for 10 more years or so...

Van Halen in their 50's. Fuck! I can't believe were even talkin' about that but their not that far off. Physically speakin' I think Dave can hold up but I'm not sure that his voice will. The Van Halen brothers? Ed's history of drinkin' and smokin' and Big Al's drinkin' and neck problem...don't think so! Mike? if he loses a bit of weight he should be fine. I tend to think the band will pull a Beatles type thing. Stop touring and concentrate soley on studio production.

Sure hope not. That's what killed the Beatles. Though they made excellent albums (still some of the best in existence), they ceased to be a band by not playing live. They recognized this fact and were actually planning a "secret" club tour in 1969 under a fake name like "Ricky and the Red Streaks" (or something like that). The infamous rooftop concert in the "Let it Be" movie was actually intended to be a rehearsal for this tour, which unfortunately never happenned, because the band had grown apart from lack of working together. The same thing almost happenned to the Stones during the same time period, finally forcing them to drop the drug wasted Brian Jones and move on.
I don't see Van Halen continuing very long if they can't play live. If they hang up touring, they'll probably hang it up for good.

I think if Roth comes back, the bands physical health is the only factor that could them down. Van Halen is in the same league as The Beatles, Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin. If Roth comes back, it'll be huge and it could go as long as they can physically hack it.
