Sam and Alex on Dave, Wolfie, and Mike

Okay, so I don't like to post middlemen rumors very much, even from the guys that I know, guys who know guys in the VH camp, or guys who know guys who are peripherally adjunct to the VH camp, and so on. I thought this latest little gossip thrown my way earlier today was worth posting just for discussion's sake if nothing else. Take into mind this guy got his info from somebody extremely close to VH land. He didn't want to post it and asked me to, 'cause he doesn't like being in the middle of the fires or questioned about his credibility...unlike myself, who's invested in flame-retardant underwear.

Anyway, here's what he was told...could be BS, could be truth, could be BS now and true later, could be true now and change later....we all know how the Halen roller coaster rides. Though my best educated guess, given what I know about this guy and his contact, what I myself estimate through my own admittedly limited contacts, and what minor rumors have been leaked, is that at least some of it is semi-accurate, and on a scale of 1-10, 10 being gospel fact and 1 being complete bullshit, I'd give the cred factor a 6 or 7.

Alex and Sammy call each other fairly regularly. They are still in touch and remain friends. Sammy's feelings on the reunion are quoted as such - "Eddie's living the party lifestyle, good for him if that's what he wants to do. I just don't know what he's thinking opening a door for Dave and slamming it for Mike." Alex, supposedly, admits he has reservations about the return of Dave because, quote, "he knows the 4th time ain't the charm." And he has his own thoughts about his nephew Wolfgang's involvement. Though that was left vague when pressed, evidently. Said person went on to claim Sammy is certain that he'll be back - and that from time to time music is faxed and emailed to each other. (between Sam and Alex). Quote: "They just needed some breathing room, and Sam and Alex continue to talk occasionally about the future."

Anyway, this person told me to pass it on, and I deemed it worthy enough to share, if only to shoot the breeze.

Believable, but then again so is the Wolfie-in, Mike-out shit. Ed's the widcard in this equation - fired Dave, fired Sam, wanted to fire Alex (if rumors are true), hired Gary, fired Gary, re-hired Sam, re-fired Sam, fired Mike, hired Wolfie, so goes the days of our lives. Who the fuck knows anymore? All I know is life is too fuckin short to get all busted up over it.

Interesting. Doesn't sound beyond feasible to me. Though I'd like to know how Sammy's so certain he'll rejoin if he and Mike are a package deal.

Of course, everything with Ed seems so grudge-of-the-week, but even if everyone kissed and made nicey-nice, he'd likely have to jilt his own boy to have Sam back.

I was thinkin' about that too. 'Course that'd never happen. The only way he could do both is if this Wolfie thing is a side project and doesn't actually tour as Van Halen, does the 'real' VH stuff with Dave and Mike or Sam and Mike, his kid's band sorta like Sam and the Wabos, I guess.

Sounds a little complicated for Looney Tunes.
