I am interviewing the band Saliva this afternoon and their tour manager is Scotty Ross. Am I wrong to believe that he was the tour manager for Van Halen as well. The name sounds so familiar but I can not remember from where.

the name sounds so familiar but I wanna say VH fans were real pissed off at him around the time sammy left, gary started, dlr failed to hook back up with ed for good. anyone share the story so i can ask him about it?

Yes, that's VH's old tour manager.

He's been there from the start.

Not sure about the story you're referring to, but he's the coolest guy, very down to earth. If anyone knows what's going on with Ed and Al it's Scotty.

No,it's ray Daniels we hate.Alex's ex-brother -in -law who "managed" them after Ed died.Scotty Ross has worked with a ton of bands and would be a cool interview himself!

Bingo. Scotty has always been totally great for the fans and for van halen. He also did the dave and sam tour. He left van halen in good terms just because they didn't have anything for him to do.

Scotty was such a great guy. I didnt want to press for too much info, since he hasnt talked to Ed & Al in quite a while since they dont return his calls. this is all my opinion or take of the VH talk we had which wasnt much. It sounded to me like the band is done....sounds like the brothers are mad at Mike for working with Sammy. He never said it or alluded to it but just my take on it. Scotty really doesnt know or didnt say if he knew any new info but my opinion is that we all may be here waiting, pissing and moaning about nothing.

he did tell a funny story about hitting the message boards with info that mikey had been kicked out of the band, Al was starting a new band. SAid he was writing it in front of the band to have some fun to see how big a rumor could get but was asked by management and record company got mad at them. funny story...believe it was right around the recording of VH3.

but Scotty didnt know anything different from us.

Oh well. How stupid would it be if the brothers were really now pissed at Mike because he has been working with Sammy.

IF that was the case & they were peeved @ Mike for doing his own thing, that's pretty sad.

They relegate the dude to 'hired hand' in the band, then dissolve it, & then get upset with him for having friends that he likes to play his old music with....

I'll be the first to say that I don't know how the band is set up in terms of who decides to do what when (and I'd be willing to bet no one here does either) That being said, IF Ed is in charge and they have Mikey on as a paid employee, they CAN tell him what to do. Imagine telling your boss, "gee, I'm finished with my work early today, I'll just go leave and pick up some hours at another company" Not gonna happen.

And with THAT being said... I always assumed that they split everything 25% and all contributed to the music, the everything. And with Ed's comment somewhere where he says, "We used to do this on a handshake" leads me to believe they were forced to set up some sort of structure within the band itself (probably when they started making crazy $$$)

I don't know, just rambling on... but I do know I wish they're all healthy and put out some more music. I for one don't really feel offended by them not telling me what they're doing.

I'll shut up now.
