Seeing is WACF is by far the worst Van Halen album (inconsistency will do that to you), Fair Warning by a mile.

Only bad thing about Fair Warning is the last two tracks don't do that much for me. They're not bad, I'd just rather have a "real song" fill up the record space those two took.

WACF is a great record. I especially like the acoustic open to "Take Your Whiskey Home". It is hard blues! Some rockers on there: "And The Cradle Will Rock", and some great songwriter stuff such as "In A Simple Rhyme", but

Fair Warning is rock album perfection!!

    I like FW better.

I've got the Mean Street riff stuck in my head

I really enjoy the first 4 songs on WACF. (When I lack energy in me)

Eddie's sound in FW is better

Don't think I can agree here. Fair Warning is the better album in my opinion, but Women And Children First is a long way from there worst effort...
“And what we have at our fingertips is arguably one of the greatest high tenor voices ever – that was in Michael Anthony. In our tiny little corner of the universe, that voice is as identifiable as the high voice in Earth, Wind & Fire, as identifiable as the high voice in the Beach Boys. Van Halen is an indelicate house blend of both – that’s intentionally. So I would always look forward to that reunion.” - David Lee Roth

O.K. I know it's all a matter of opinion, but that is definitely one of the funniest statements I've ever read in these forums. As far as the topic though, I'd have to pick FW. WACF is a great album, but it's kind of like going up against Wayne Gretsky or Michael Jordon. It's just not fair, ya' know?
"One of the reasons I left Sabbath was because Van Halen was blowing us off the stage every night. It was embarrassing." -Ozzy Osbourne

"When I first heard "Runnin' With The Devil" on the radio, I was stunned and found myself dizzy, walking through my high school hallways thinking, "What was THAT?!"
Eddie Van Halen was so innovative and kicked so much ass, and David Lee Roth was for a time indisputably the Greatest Man in America.
If aliens came down and challenged us to a Battle of the Bands to decide the fate of Planet Earth, I would feel very confident putting early Van Halen forward as our champion." -Tom Morello

"There is no heir to the throne of Eddie Van Halen. Nobody sits on that throne. Nobody takes that throne. Here's why it's different with Eddie: when a great guitar player passes, you just move on to another, right? But in this case, Eddie wasn't just a 'guitar player'. We're talking about a guy who changed culture and how we play guitar. He was like an alien coming in and fucking everything up so much that even the legends beforehand are like, 'Okay .. what is happening here? What sorcery is this?'" -Nuno Bettencourt

I like WACF alot more than i used to. Someting about the rawness to it that makes it so cool. Romeo's Delight, In a simple rhyme, take your Whiskey home, And the Cradle will rock, Fools, everybody wants some, and Could this be magic are all awsome songs. But I still like Fair Warning better. WACF is loaded with good songs, but FW is full of GREAT songs, and that is the difference.
