Man's Body Found In KCK Home For Sale

KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- A real estate agent found a dead body Monday afternoon while showing a house for sale, KMBC's Peggy Breit reported.

Police said the man's body was found in the back room of a house in the 2700 block of North 47th Street. The man has not been identified, officials said.

Breit reported that the agent went to the home with some potential buyers and found the man. At first, they thought the man was asleep, but after they were unsuccessful at waking him they called 911.

"When we walked in, we first thought he was asleep, then we thought it was an overdose," real estate employee Teresita Garcia said. "First you see the body and you're scared, then you feel sad for him, then you're scared again when you find out it could be a homicide."

Investigators said foul play is not suspected, but an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death. Police said the man may have died from a drug overdose or from natural causes.

Police said there were signs that someone may have broken into the home through the back door.

Neighbor Kim Green said the house has been vacant for about three years.

I imagine it is hard to sell a house that someone died in....but imagine trying to sell a house with the dead person still in it.

A house across the street from me was put up for sale after the owner (an elderly lady) passed away while taking a shower. From what I heard, she was in there for a couple of days before she was found by someone.

The first thing the new owners did was completely remodel the bathroom.
