Don't Tell Me (What Love Can Do)

What a powerful song this is. I really love this direction the band was taking. Sammy kicks ass and has some great lyrics. Eddie's tone is fuckin' crisp and heavy. Damn, I just love the solos and everything about this song. Anyone else think this song kicks some serious ass?

Great song, pretty solid video. I also loved the more serious direction the band was taken. They could still party with tunes like Amsterdam and Big Fat Money, but a song like DTMWLCD just hit you right in the chest. And if one bad ass solo by Ed wasn't enough, he left ya another one on the way out. I love it.

Few tunes sound better cranked to 10 than DTM.

I love the solos and the sound/tone that Ed has. Underrated tune IMO.

indeed. yet for some reason when you go back to it after many years it doesn't have that staying power that many other halen tunes do.

When I heard this song for the first time, I was in complete amazement. I listened to it everysingle time I was in iTunes or had my iPod. I played about 30 times in a few weeks. In fact, I overplayed it, so its still a five star song for me, instead of a six

    Great tune and very raw!

One of the many finest moments off Balance.
Bobby Cohn: Who's going to be at Waynestock?
Wayne Campbell: Um, uh...Aerosmith & Pearl Jam!
Garth Algar: Ha ha ha ha ho!
    Bobby: Who else?
    Garth: Uh, me...and...and Wayne...
    Wayne: ...and uh...VAN HALEN!!!
Garth: Wow. Van Halen. Who else?
    Bobby: Yeah, who else?
Wayne: Uh, an old man fashioning a kayak out of a log?

I disagree; I've always been able to come back to it. I think Balance has stood the test of time and perhaps become slightly more appreciated. It came out in an era where hard rock acts were scrutinized to the point of no return.

In Sammy's unpublished book he talked about all the ideas he had for the next VH album and how he thought Balance was in fact their weakest studio album. I would've liked to have heard the next one.

Also, DTMWLCD was about Kurt Cobain. They were writing and recording in '94 right when he killed himself.

I've said that all along. DTM is the second best Van Halen song ever. Period.
