Suit: Burger King sold pot burgers to cops

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (AP) -- Two police officers sued Burger King Corp., claiming they were served hamburgers that had been sprinkled with marijuana.

The lawsuit says Mark Landavazo and Henry Gabaldon, officers for the Isleta Pueblo tribal police, were in uniform and riding in a marked patrol car when they bought meals at the drive-through lane October 8 of a Burger King restaurant in Los Lunas, New Mexico.

The officers ate about half of their burgers before discovering marijuana on the meat, the lawsuit said. They used a field test kit to confirm the substance was pot, then went to a hospital for medical evaluations.

"It gives a whole new meaning to the word 'Whopper,"' the officers' attorney, Sam Bregman, said Monday.

"The idea that these hoodlums would put marijuana into a hamburger and therefore attempt to impair law enforcement officers trying to do their jobs is outrageous."

Three Burger King employees were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and aggravated battery on an officer, a felony. They later were indicted.

The lawsuit, filed Friday in Bernalillo County, alleges personal injury, negligence, battery and violation of fair practices. It seeks unspecified damages along with legal costs.

Officials at Miami-based Burger King declined to comment, citing a company policy against discussing pending litigation.

Some people just don't know their audience.
And OK. So it was wrong and I don't care for people fucking with my food
either. But the cops were prolly just pissed cause the kings didn't use more
sense and just bake the pot butter into the cookies. Far more efficacious. Duh.

They should have been charged with 1st degree stupidity for wasting perfectly good weed! "Aggravated battery"??? How can you call it that?

This reminds me of a line in the original "Friday" where Chris Tucker and Ice Cube are debating whether to hide weed from the minister and Chris Tucker says the minister probably smokes weed too, and then he comes up and asks for a hit to help his cataracts. Chris then says something along the lines of "See.... Where the weed is, evil lurks."

Not pot related, but Burger King related...

On Friday evening I went to my local supermarket to get the weekly provisions. As I usually do, I call in to one of the take-aways nearby to get my evening meal cos I'm running late. On this particular evening I chose the Burger King. Now, the service in this branch has never been great, but I didn't expect this.

When I went in one guy was leaning on the counter, another was shovelling fries around and another was in the back. The one at the fries shouted to the one at the back that "Someone needs service here." The guy in the back replies that the other should do it, to which he replies he's on his break (why he spends his break playing with fries, I don't know). So this developed into a full blown argument between these two guys while the third is still leaning on the counter. Eventually, I just informed them I was going to the take-away down the street.

If I employed these guys in my business I would have fired them for this. I was standing there wanting to give them money and none of them had the brains to take it from me! I'll be calling Burger King's customer service line today.
