The board has dried up, Kaput! with nada as far as news, we grasp at Van Halen straws to desparately find something to chat about here. Its getting too depressing. I mean I was posting pictures of Godzilla for Christs sake!!! Well with all due respect to Van Halen, I have been here since Nov of 99. Im tired of this I guess it is truely time to get on with my life and if and when they pull their heads out and bring us some music great. But if they dont ive got lots of great music already from them. Im not mad IM not upset Im just tired of wasting my time comeing in here for news and seeing the same old crappola...there arent even any decent rumors to chew on!! Well its going to be a great summer with or without Van Halen and AC/DC is gonna tour right by me again so I guess those brothers will get my money again.

I've been a little more frustrated lately with the situation just because I don't understand why VH can't say something.

BUT, I never came here for new information about Van Halen. I just always found it to be a cool place to talk about VH through the years, and to talk about other topics as well. Two years ago, I thought I was the only VH fan in the world; if I wanted to talk about the band, I had to talk to the wall. Which is only fun for so long, then it's just grounds for being institutionalized. [img]smilies/biggrin.gif[/img]

I'd still be a Links member even if the band called it quits, it's just a great place to hang. I think I'll be here until Brett puts the chairs on the table, locks the door and turns out the lights.

This speaks volumes about the "maturity" of this board and the folks here. We used to have a lot of traffic here, but with nothing happening, so does the discussions....but what is discussed at least is worth talking about...not a like the dome, which have a lot of threads where you start reading and go, "Why the fuck am I reading this crap?"

While most of the excitement around here is/was about the idea of a reunion, this place has been a great way for me to get more enjoyment out of my favorite band.

None of my buddies or co-workers care if ALAE should been more succesful than it was, or if Donn Landee was the reason why OU812 sounds thin. They really don't marvel at Ed's sound on Fair Warning.

Here, people do care about those things, and I get to share my thoughts about it. I also get to pal around with some great VH fans, and hear what they have to say.

It's too bad the guys in the band haven't taken the time to join us. They might learn a few things, and have some fun while they're at it! [img]smilies/smile.gif[/img]

Honestly guys, while there hasn't been any VH to speak of, it's kinda be nice just to chat and stuff, without having to be so annoyed over the band. We know VH will be back, they will. It's NOT over! Exactly! Van Halen were the motivating factor when I first came here but that's changed. Where else would we go to moan and complain, and bullshit each other about new rumours. I don't know about you guys but I've made some good friends since coming to the links, and if VH called it quits tomorrow, (which they had better not!!..lol)
I'd still keep coming back to shoot the shit, and see what everyone has to say till Brett says that's it. Hope that won't happen for a long time.

Wow, what a great thread. I was feeling the same as 'lilred' lately. I do alot of lurking here, rarely do i post, yet i feel a great kinship to those of you who frequently do post here. I really didn't realize that so much 'till I read this particular thread. Hearing all of you articulate your individual reasons for coming to this board over the years made me realize how valuable this site is to fans like us. I had just about scared all my friends away with my incesent VH talk. Making them listen to song fragments to pick out nuances of Eddie's playing. Now there is a place i can go and be tought something instead of showing someone these subtleties. To me, that makes it all worth while, and should I stumble on some breaking VH news, well that would be great too, but I'll keep coming back regardless.

fuck this thread ! this board rocks! ive met some great dudes here...ive been here since september 99 and i check everyday....but for vh info and to talk in the guitar forum..if and when the band makes an annoucment thats just icing on the cake ! poiund for pound this is the most competent(sp?) and best looking vh board. how could i not give props to my g4 bros too.
