Default A Few Things We'd Like To See !

Assuming that they survive the night at the HOF induction, and a tour actually gets under way.....What are the top 3 things that you would like to see that would make you say they pulled it off and made you glad they did it !

    Here's mine.....

    1) I'd like to see Dave be Dave now, not trying to be Dave of 20 years ago.I don't need bleached blonde hair, spandex, and splits off the drum riser !You want to impress me ? Make it through the tour in one piece, and remember the words !

    2) I'd like to be able to recognize the songs........Eddie should have these tunes polised and be somewhat sober and coherant. I don't expect perfection by any stretch, but an honest attempt at it might be nice !

    3) I know it's alot to ask........but I'd like to see these guys be genuine, and get along enough to sustain the tour and come out of it with some sort of respectability for itself and it's fans ! If this thing goes through another ego driven meltdown I won't know what to think anymore. I shouldn't need to constantly defend the merits of this band to people who see it only as a trainwreck. You're fucking hall of famer's now.....ACT LIKE IT !

If I can see these things...........I'd say mission accomplished, regardless of what critics or ticket reciepts say !

So you're saying you want them to act like grown up, responsible men, correct? How many moons does your planet have?

Who knows? Maybe the RRHOF thing will be the kick in the ass they need. If not, maybe you'll get to share a room with Ed at that mental hospital.

Being a veteran of said hospitals, let me point out that one truly cherishes a room to one's self.

Any great band is bigger than the sum of the parts. This is true of Van Halen. To not be on their 'A' game would disrespect the very thing that got them where they are. In effect, they would be disrespecting themselves. If you can't do your best, stay home.

That being said, I'd rather have a new album than a tour.

And for those of you questioning Dave's voice: it was NEVER about his voice. It was all about the songs AND the guitar player. It was about Dave's sex appeal (just ask the ladies). Some things pass with time. Others make you legendary. Hair, voice, virtuosity, and sex appeal are temporary things; songs last forever if they are worthy. And Van Halen's songs are worthy.

My God, you all sound like a bunch of old Grandpas on the way to an ice cream parlor... Screw genuine, screw looking all grown up today. Lets see some of that 80's decadence that made VH the premier rock and roll band. Im sure you didn't fall in love with Van Halen because they had the look and feel of the wholesome Osmonds! If you want to be all grown up go enjoy a nice laid back James Taylor concert or maybe frequent a Barry Manilow show.
Dave sport the damn spandex, blonde mane and kung fu shtick, Eddie, dawn the striped overalls, Alex drum with beer in hand and Mike well be Mike...WHO WANTS SOME ROCK AND ROLL HEERRRRRRRRRRRRREEE!!!!

Uhhh...no. That's what video is for. One can not replicate the past. To try is foolhardy at best, boneheadedly misguided at worst.

Human beings get older. They evolve, one way or another.

And sometimes, it ain't too fucking pretty. Yet at least there is some honesty and yes, some dignity involved with simply being one's self.

That's on you, bro....I want no part of that shit ! I want them to be civil to each other and do the songs justice.....worry more about things sounding right, rather than wasting precious energy trying to relive the impossible past to make things look right !
Show some class, leave it all on stage, and ride into the sunset as "Happy Trails" plays in the background . If there's any hope at all of continuing something after this tour, the "Remember Us, From The 80's" tour is not the way to go !

What I'd like to see ---

    1) The original recipe.
    2) A performance worthy of the music. Please Dave, remember the lyrics. I don't care if you can't sing like you did in the 80's (which wasn't good anyways) just represent the songs with the respect they deserve. Please no lounge singer shit. Please Ed, don't be so smashed/stoned or whatever state you medicate yourself to that you can't play the shit well. Not perfect, just well. Please get the sound right.
    3) A flexible setlist (although this could be asking for too much from both Ed and Dave, depending on their conditions).
    4) Just a solid, 2 + hour show. I don't need to see them in spandex, or jumping around much, or assless chaps (it's a bit unbecoming for 50-year olds, and it couldn't be any more phony). I don't care what guitar Eddie chooses to play, or how big or how small the stage is, or anything but just hearing the old tunes by the orignal recipe. I don't give a fuck if they get along, speak to each other, stay in different hotels or ride different planes as long as the show is solid. I'd be going under the assumption that whatever vibe they're representing on stage is gonna be phony (unless it's contempt, which probably is real).
Probably too much to ask for, but that would be my hope.
    SOME VH LINKS CLASSICS

"Sammy is fat, Dave is bald, Mike is next in line to be the Pope, Eddie is a drunk, Wolfie is fat, Gary is gay, CVH is VH, Mike is VH, Sammy can outsing Dave on a tequilla hangover, Eddie is a meth head, How Many Say I is the worst VH song ever, Up for Breakfast is a close second, Dave was horrible at radio and everybody hates the assless chaps.
Ok I think that covers everything." Ziggysmalls

"I sense that some of our newer passengers may be nervous due to the sudden turbulence. Please be seated, this is simply a normal part of the periodic ride.
I didn't say we'll get to the destination, but until Alex comes out a says what a complete waste of carbon DLR is, we're still climbing, so strap yourselves in.
Those of you who have been on this ride before, the hottie in the mini will be around shortly with your drinks......." Red

    What I'd like to see,

    1. Eddie playing like Eddie circa 1998.
    2. Dave staying within himself.
    3. Alex stay healthy.
    4. Mike involved.
    5. For it to be genuine and not a repeat of 2004.
    6. decent ticket prices.
    7. Eddie to go back to wireless
    8. Pay homage to the Sam era by having Mike sing 1 or 2 songs.
    9. Let Wolfie's band serve as opening act
    10. Cowbell Bring back the cowbell dammitt!
