Default You wanted the best, you got the best, the hottest thread in the world.... KISS!

I wanted to start one too...

    OK, some KISS news:

Too bad it's not the original 4 , but this should be cool.....

KISS: 'Rock The Nation Live!' DVD Details Revealed - Dec. 30, 2004

With KISS guitarist Tommy Thayer overseeing it, as he has with most of the group's full-length videos in years past, "Kiss - Rock The Nation Live!", the new live KISS two-disc DVD set will feature the hottest songs from the Washington, D.C. and Virginia Beach, VA concerts, filmed this summer in high-definition video, according to a posting on the group's web site. The song list is vast and features a collection of KISS gems, many performed and recorded live for the first time in many years. The DVD will also include KISS Powervision interactive bonus features that include Select-A-KISS, allowing the viewer access to separate channels for each of the four band members. At any time the viewer can watch the main concert program, or switch to different cameras focusing just on Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Tommy Thayer or Eric Singer. The DVD will be loaded with additional behind-the-scenes, life-on-the-road footage and interviews, giving the viewer a virtual all-access pass to soundchecks, the famed KISS dressing room and other rare glimpses into the world of KISS. The DVD is tentatively slated for a spring 2005 release.

MIGHT pick it up, but doubt it. In Tommy's defense he was great when I saw them, but I know KISS fans have the whole thing about him in Ace's makeup and shit. I think it's all stupid. I go for the music, and these guys were actually better than Aerosmith that night.

In Chicago, Kiss was by far better than Aerosmith....it makes me sick to say that, but they were. Tyler was just bad that night, but I've seen them both over the years many times and they both put on a great show...different but great.

I also agree, it sucks that they chose to have them in the makeup, but as a band, they sound better (unless Ace is sober, then he takes the cake, but Eric will always bury Peter on drums)

KISS was awesome when I saw them, but Aerosmith ousted them that night. I wasn't even a very big fan of Aerosmith, but they REALLY impressed me. Steven Tyler is still a kickass frontman.
    "Suck a fat one, faggot."

"You may recognize some of these chemicals. Let's start with cyanide...The one the Aum Shinrikyo cult attempted to use to commit mass murder in a Tokyo subway in May 1995...The same cyanide produced routinely--1.4 million tons per year--for use in the production of plastics, adhesives, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and so on. It seems that those who put small amounts of cyanide in subways are terrorists. But those who produce it in mass quantities and contaminate broad reaches of soil, water, and air, killing countless living beings, are not terrorists, but rather capitalists, and are counted among the finest and most powerful people on the planet."

Big fan of the '70s work, but now I think they should start their shows with "You wanted the best, but we didn't want to pay them what they were asking..." Whether or not Thayer and Singer are better musicians is not up to me to decide, all I know is that they aren't Frehley and Criss and shouldn't be made to look like them!

My favorite Kiss memory is Gene Simmons' leather jacket he wore back in the 80's. I saw them with Ted Nugent opening, either Asylum or Crazy Nights tour. Gene made it a point to be seen in the open sidestage area before the KISS set, wearing this badass black leather jacket with the words "WORLD'S GREATEST F*%K" proudly screaming across the back. Awesome.

Sadly, I moved on from KISS years and years ago, but like him or not, Gene $immon$ has always had balls, and conducts himself as such. That's why he's still making good money today off of pure rock and roll attitude. Respect.....

I find myself playing "Detroit Rock City" ad infinitum lately. That is just the quintessential KISS tune for me.

I met him in '89 and the man exudes confidence. Very friendly too. I worked at Wherehouse corporate (record store chain) in Torrance, Ca. He and Paul stopped by to promote "Hot in the Shade" to the execs and sign autographs. I stepped away from my desk to get a peek at them and Gene introduced himself. I had just seen him in "Runaway" the month before and told him .... "You make a pretty good bad-guy."

    "Yeah, I'm a mean son of a bitch, aren't I?" he replied.

He even stopped at my desk and said goodbye on the way out. Fine, fine man who knows to respect his public....after all we made him FUCKIN RICH!!

Yeah, I do think that if they are going forward with these guys, they need thier own makeup or just drop all the makeup (I'd rather see Tommy and Eric with thier own).

And with all the merchandise these guys put out, there's one major item that they have yet to put out since 1998 and that's A NEW FUCKING ALBUM!

    Default KISS

I used to agree that they should put out a new album, but when they did Psycho Circus, as much as I hate to admit it, it wasn't great. Gene just doesn't care anymore - he does what he wants, how he wants, no matter what the fans say. That's why he put out Asshole - even though he knew that most fans wouldn't like it - it's nice to have that much money & confidence to be able to do that, but it's not what we were looking for. I am definitely excited to hear Paul's new solo album though - he has always been able to sound more like classic Kiss with his songs.

Gotta agree. I bought the tix for Aerosmith, and walked out with a KISS t-shirt.
