Poundcake vs. The Seventh Seal

I was thinking about these two songs and was wondering what everyone else thought about them. They're both great album openers and rock hard.

My choice is Poundcake.

I'd take Poundcake, even though I've become really burned out on the song through bootlegs. Van Halen really should have been mixing up their setlists a lot more than they did.

The Seventh Seal is also a great track, probably one of the best songs on Balance. But Poundcake is the better song IMO.

I don't know what it is about Poundcake... it's good, I just never thought it was all that. Plenty of better songs on CK.

Goning to have to go with Seventh Seal. Great guitar, great vibe, great lyrics. Love the chanting.

I agree with Glenn as well about VH changing up their setlists a bit more often. Maybe because there are a lot of us with a bunch of these shows, but these tours did seem to get a bit stale. I'm almost to the point when I get a Balance show, I don't even need to look at the artwork or listen to the show itself to know the song order.

Seventh Seal DOES have it's moment's too, but I prefer Poundcake.

Both are excellent Sammy-era concert openers, but Poundcake gets my vote. Both have a big, loose sound to them. And yes, there is something about Poundcake that's cool. I didn't like it very well until I saw the MTV video of it. The way they jammed, especially Sammy and Alex toward the end was great. Maybe that's what's cool about it. [img]smilies/smile.gif[/img]

'Poundcake' is just too worn out for me. Don't get me wrong, it's a great tune but it's been overplayed. 'Seventh Seal' has better lyrics & a better groove.
