Eds has got like 12 albums in the can right??? I mean that would be AWESOME a new record and tour!! YES it can be done if Ed wants it to..

Don't know about any other shows this past summer but when Dave played Morongo he wasn't spewing his old schitck. He had that big shit eating grin the whole show and put all of his energy into putting on a great show for everyone that was there. I think Dave will have no problems putting on the show of the year. The only issue I could see coming up would be him being able to have his voice sustain a full blown tour.

Well, they did, but the first three albums were for the most part written from 1973 - 1977, so they stepped into the studio with a lot of material ready to go. Add to that the fact that the albums were mostly live recordings in the studio with minimal overdubs. Fair Warning was the first album they really had to write from scratch (aside from the music on "Mean Street") and that's why it was so different from the first 3. Also explains why Diver Down was the shortest album and even then, half covers, and then why it took longer to finish 1984.

And with Ed bragging about "12 albums" worth of music, keep in mind that Eddie really can't write songs on his own. He comes up with riffs, but he's got no idea how to shape them into songs unless Dave or Sammy is in the room with him. And apparently, the "new songs" from 2004 were just Sammy singing over prefab tracks, which explains why they were so terrible.

So if Van HALEN did go into the studio to make a new album, Dave & Ed could probably squeeze 12 or 14 actual songs out of Eddie's supposedly "huge" musical stockpile. And the finished product would probably be great. But I wouldn't expect another "6 days in the studio and then press it" like VHII.

I could find 3 better songs from VHIII, as differnt as those songs were form a VH standpoint, atleast they had some structure and better lyrics.
