I saw the second show in Vegas and the Seattle show. I feel the Seattle show was a lot tighter than the Vegas show. It probably helped being in the very front...

San Diego was great, probably the best I have seen of the band over the years.

Second night in Vegas was great.

    San Diego kicked serious ass.

Opening night in Los Angeles straight out rocked. Loved hearing Ed pull out a sampling of "Women In Love" and hearing the band do the intro to "Hot For Teacher".
"Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that."

"This is a lttle prayer dedicated to the separation of church and state. I guess if they are going to force those kids to pray in schools they might as well have a nice prayer like this: Our Father who art in heaven, and to the republic for which it stands, thy kingdom come, one nation indivisible as in heaven, give us this day as we forgive those who so proudly we hail. Crown thy good into temptation but deliver us from the twilight's last gleaming. Amen and Awomen. ."

"I think it's the duty of the comedian to find out where the line is drawn and cross it deliberately."

    -George Carlin 1937 - 2008

First night in Chicago and on the second leg. The whole band was awesome despite several cord trips by Ed. I'd say they were in the middle of their hottest period on tour, probably between 6/28 and 8/5 (from what bootlegs show).

The rest of the tour = shit
In and out. I didn't even make that pun on purpose.

I was at the first Chicago show. Sammy said he and Mike were hung over, Eddie played great and the entire show was a cool experience! (Don't forget that Mikey is from Chi-town)

Yeah, Eddie had problems with his cord, but he bounced back and rocked out!

The guitar solo was the weakest I have seen, too much Cathedral!!!!!!

But the show as a whole was awesome.

Shinedown was good enough to make me a fan.
    Just go for it!

On the boot, I could swear Cathedral was timed at like 4 minutes long

Sam sounded good, and Mike seemed to be feeling great as well, especially since he was home. Eddie was fantastic, though.

I saw the 2 Worcester, Ma. shows and I thought show #1 was better, both were quite good, but not fantastick.
Maybe the first show was better IMO because it was a Saturday Night and the next one was on Sunday Night so I drank more and let loose more on Saturday and spent a good part of Sunday recovering before doing again, with only a couple of beers in me.
'Old Van Halen, when I was in it-classic Van Halen-makes you wanna drink, dance and screw, right? And the new Van Halen encourages you to drink milk, drive a Nissan and have a relationship.' - David Lee Roth.

The St. Paul show in July was a lot of fun. I'd been keeping up with setlists and bootlegs, so for the most part I knew what to expect--including Eddie's loose/noddle-roni playing. For his solo he choked, and he knew it; he kept looking at his hands and shaking his head.

I drove to Fargo on Halloween '04 because I'd been hearing all the talk about bad blood and figured I should see one more show in case it would be the last VH show I'd ever see. I thought: Podunk town near the end of the tour... it won't be that great. The opposite was true in fact; Sammy sang awesome, and Eddie's solo had me completely floored. I wrote later in a review that it was like having the chance to peer into Ed's conscious as it went streaming along. That solo changed how I think about the guitar.

The Dallas show was Super Fantastic. Eddie was dead on the whole night. Alex was a machine(you could feel his bass drums), Sammy sang great, I couldn't really hear Mikey's bass at all(I really wanted to hear an see how his new Yamaha's sounded, too). Eddie used his Green Wolfie (w/ sustainer) for his solo only. Mostly played his Charvel (b n y(2 different ones)) and quilted Sunburst Wolfie.

That Dallas show in 2004 is my only Van Halen show I"ve ever seen in person.

I kick myself all the time for not going to the Dallas show on the 1998 Van Halen III tour. I could have gotten someone from the old #vanhalen chat room on IRC to take me! They had offered.

    Nuts!

Caught the first of the two Vegas shows @Mandalay - Ed was horrible that nite, noticeably smashed. Easily the worst VH show I've witnessed. The rest of the band sounded a little off, and Sammy seemed more interested in signing away anything and everything.

Then saw them here in San Jose a few nights later. IMO a much better show. Didn't know what to expect after the Vegas show, but glad I went to see them again. Same setlist for both shows except Wolf was at Vegas, but not at SJ.

On a sidenote, I've got to say that I've caught a few shows in LV, I've never been happy w/any bands performance. I guess the whole Sin City atmosphere takes a little outta everyone who swings through there.

I went to 7 shows on the tour. The worst was Vegas night one and San Jose. The best was Portland, and Sacto and Oakland were pretty good too.
