How about a CVH Live Album?
This may be putting the cart before the horse, but I had an idea for something VH could promote before or during their possible reunion tour.
A LIVE ALBUM.
Think about it, the original lineup never released an offical live album and most of the bootlegs from that era have pretty spotty sound quality.
They could schedule two (or three) consecutive nights at the L.A. Forum, record all three shows and whittle it down into a double album.
It would be a re-packaging of the hits for newer fans and the die-hards would eat it up because it's the classic line-up performing live. Throw in a couple of new studio tracks and it would make for one killer package.
I, as much as anyone would love to see a new studio album from the boys but I think this would be much easier for them to pull off.
Black Sabbath did this prior to their own reunion tour and it turned out amazing.
What does everyone else think?

Eddie did state on the Howard Stern show that he's written new material and that his son and Alex are involved of course. It's something that he could've hinted as far as the possible reunion and Dave being involved and singing on the new material? This is of course is after what’s materialized after the porn thing.
Who really knows but the info that Andrew's provided so far about the possible absence of Mike being involved and Eddie truly dissing Mike on the Stern show he did confirm Wolfie is playing the bass these days, so that also confirms Wolfie being involved with a project and possibly the reunion. However, I agree that it wouldn’t be a true reunion without Mike.
I’ve also heard that Eddie’s pissed at Mike since he didn’t give his condolences when Ed’s and Alex’s mother passed away. That’s a big no-no in any capacity in life no matter who you are!
We'll have to wait and see but a lot of what Eddie has planned is justified from that Stern interview.Bono Vox: Poetic, Political, extremely generous and just a tiny bit egomaniacal.

"“We had a lot of fun on the tour – Dave was a blast. And next time we go out, we’re going to have some new stuff, too. I’m looking forward to getting on it. I’ve got tons of music written, such a variety of stuff… Actually, next week or the week after, Wolfie, Alex, and I are gonna start jamming. Maybe we’ll give Dave a call and see what he’s up to.” - Edward Van Halen ~ 2009

I want a live DVD with a free CD with it. I have a few concerts like that. (Alice Cooper, Whitesnake, Journey.) Of course I doubt Van Halen would do that.
Right Now you're reading my post!
I can't stand rap....people who can't sing do rap....you can sing rebellion as well as talk it....Hitler would have been in a rap band...

I want box sets that promise more box sets.. Such as Kiss' new live DVD box set 74-77.. it's Vol 1.
There's gotta be enough stuff in the vaults for VH to put something like that out as well.Don't drink the Jim Jones punch. They're called theToxic Twins for a reason...

They should put out a live comprehensive DVD like Led Zeppelin did a few years ago- that's the best collection of live stuff I've ever seen/heard. Imagine if VH did that, with a a whole concert, and songs live from different tours, etc, TV appearances. wow

A live album would be cool. But I want at least one live album from the early 80s. You know, their prime? After they release that, I don't care what they put out. They made one with Hagar, its only fair to release something like that for the Roth years.
If they do hook up with Roth, maybe they can release some Roth stuff before they all get pissed at each other again, which will happen.Leave everything to me!-Powdered Toast Man

If this is the cash grab everybody is saying it is, I'd be very surprised if there isn't a live album. Actually, I can see them puttin' out a live DVD or both. Hopefully, the DVD will feature lots of extra stuff from the archives. If Dave in charge of this, it'll be good.

They should clearly do something to catch up with the times. For a band that's so money hungry and greedy, VH sure hasn't figured out how to merchandise and market themselves very well.

anything new would be great with either of the singers. As far as Ed's statement on stern about new material, he's been saying that for the past 15 years about how he has 10 albums worth. Problem is, its more like 10 albums worth of Ideas, not songs. We all know how meticulous the man can be when it comes down to writing a song...long gone are the days of recording it once and its done.

A live album / DVD would be nice, like RHRN only with Dave. Of course, the CD could be a compilation of dates (maybe, just maybe, with a new song or two, like Sabbath's "Reunion" back in '97) while the DVD is just one show. It would be a good way for VH to release new music / material without the hassles of working in the studio.
In and out. I didn't even make that pun on purpose.

Exactly. This is what I've once posted at the Army, that I'd love to see a comprehensive, but edited, live box set with every song recorded live from the album being promoted from each of the six CVH tours. I think they could cover the best version of each song ever recorded live in about three, four CDs tops.
Then of course, there's the possible pro-shot DVDs.

How about a 9-10 track new studio album with new material?
Just a thought. It's all about the music. This cash grab will be different than the '04 cash grab in so many ways.
