    Default So What Changed?

We all recall the hundreds of times that EVH bashed other bands for going out without any material. He always said that it was nostalgia and he'd have nothing to do with that. Those bands that just went out to rehash old stuff was merely a cash grab and artistically void.

So what changed, if it plays out the way we think?

Was it the porn? DLR? Wants to use the sustainer some more?

If people had trouble believing the '04 reunion was really inspired, how in the world can anyone imagine this to be anything but a cash grab? Like him or not, Sammy seems 300% more authentic than this mess.

    Thoughts?

Easy to say when u'r 30 yrs old and the world is your oyster.
It's 2006 and the band VH has made very poor decisions for about 12 years now. Life isn't scripted.
    Reality check.

All of this is still in the early stages. No telling what is truth or rumor. Everyone wants the CVH reunion and now that it appears that ARMBI, were all bitching!

eddie has changed just like every single memeber that has ever been in van halen....he's all about the money now...just like how he contradicted himself on stern when he said something to the effect of: "i dont do things for money, i reinvest my money and do good with it...." then in another interview he says how he did the porn soundtrack because of the money.initially he said no, then money was thrown in his face.he never answers a direct question with a direct answer.all u can somewhat accurately assume from eddie is this: whenever he is talking negatively about a person it means that person is not currently in van halen.what i love is how alex and eddie just sit on there asses waiting for a vocalist to come to them.even though it is apparent to anyone with half a brain that eddie is the problem with the band.

Life is as scripted as you make. Yeah, disasters happen, health issues arise, and tragedy hits, but this sounds like a bullshit excuse for how Ed has been for most of his life. Oh, poor Eddie, life took a big dump on him. Sorry, Ed took a big dump on the fans, his band mates, his wife, his son and on himself. Yes, Ed has changed and it's definitely not the kind of change that I would wish on anyone.

VH wouldn't survive the process of making a record. They can probably get through tour arrangements, rehearsals, and shows. Like the deal with Sam and Mike in '04, there will likely be a serious financial penalty for anyone who bails on the tour early. I think all parties realize a tour is, right now, the only thing VH can start and finish.

If they can survive a tour, an album will follow. Bet on it.

Just like in '04 when Alex kept saying they were going to make an album with Sam?

I think thats what ALEX wanted to happen. Don't think Ed did though.

I don't how inspired Eddie and maybe Alex were after looking back and re-listening to those 3 songs from BOBW. Surely not great original stuff there from Sammy.
Look at some of Sam's newer songs of late, "Things Have Changed", Bob Seger "Night Moves" rip off.
"I'll Take you There"?, "Mexico"?, "Sam I Am"?

I'm just waitng for the Van Halenized Album of great Jimmy Buffett songs.

I agree 100%. Every failed reunion attempt with Dave has involved recording new music together. On tour things can be different. I knew someone who worked at Bank Atlantic Center here in Sunrise and she said that a few years ago when the Eagles played there, they took four different cars to the venue, barely spoke at all during sound check and seemed to do most of their communicating through roadies and assistants.

For Vn Halen, it's not ideal, but it may be the only way these four guys can co-exist long enough to do anything. As long as they bring their best games while they're up on stage, I won't let it bother me that they probably despise each other off it.

My best guess is that after Ed made the comment on Stern about, "he's a loose canon, but I can deal with loose canons," that a call was made from Dave. Even though he's all over the board in public, I'd bet he's relaxed a bit in private. Maybe he finally realized that if he's gonna put it together with Ed he's gonna have to tone it down. Who knows?

As far as the new music, I'd bet that there'll be something. Even if it's just a song, probably something. Since so many people buy their music on the net these days, maybe one or two new tunes for sale on the band's website. At least then there'd be a reason to go there.

    "Looks just like an angel...

but she's just talkin' trash, you make conversation but she's lisnin' to your cash!..." Exhibit A - The Full Bug - Van Halen
Just like '96, when Ed & Al raped Dave for two new songs to sell their 'Greatest Hits' album (*see nostalgia), and again in '04, when they took Sammy for a ride and screwed Mike, this is no different. Aside from the fact that Van Halen has created some incredible music, Ed seems to be lacking in the integrity department when it comes to loyalty and the truth. Beside the fact that I plan on seeing this tour (if it ever develops), I do expect it to completely and utterly implode well before it will be scheduled to end. Let's not kid ourselves, as fans, this is a straight-up push, meaning, we get what we want (a CVH reunion) and VH get what they want (M-O-N-E-Y). It's truly sad the way this band treats its loyal following, if it weren't for us none of this would ever happen and look how we get PAID! Up the WHAZOO BEE-ATCH!!!!!!!
"A unit joined to infinity adds nothing to it anymore than one foot added to infinite length. The finite is swallowed up by the infinite and becomes pure zero. So our minds are before God."
