Well, regarding new EVH gear to coincide.....
Fender is mum on the subject for now....but me thinks there will be an amp and relic Frankenstrat......
emails between me and my pal who is a big whig at fender....we will know in January.
FYI, my friend Alan was in a ZZ Top tribute band back in the day, called TX Boogie...thus the sarcastic autograph reference.
Film @ 11:00. You will know in January. Ed says, "hi."
He actually came into my office, sat down with an acoustic that he grabbed from my wall, and played and talked to me for about 20 minutes. How cool is that. The big surprise is that he did not ask for my autograph. Like he never heard of TX Boogie.

The new gear has been coming for a while. The new amp is Fender, and Ed was working on a "new" Wolfgang for the January NAMM show last year. So far we haven't even seen a prototype of that yet, though.

There is no official confirmation, but a rep I spoke to a couple weeks back said it had been in development for a while (take that for what it's worth). The prototypes are what Ed has supposedly been playing out. (There is only 'EVH' and '5150 III' on the front of them, though.)

Isn't Ed's new Fender Wolfgang supposed to be just like his Peavey Wolfs except with a new Headstock? And a few minor changes?

That's been the general rumor: a revamped Wolfgang. Don't know about the headstock though, but it would have to be at least slightly different from the Peavey. Makes sense. Except for a few songs a night or so on the 2004 tour, he's mostly been playing Wolfgang's in public. Winter NAMM is right around the corner...

it doesn't haveto be any different at all.
he owns everything on it that you can own, ESPECIALLY the headstock design.
take it to a manufacturer and hit 'copy'.

That's not true. Peavey owned the patent on the headstock design. They also claimed to own a couple more pieces of the design, and according to someone there a law suit would be in order if Eddie did an exact copy elsewhere. That also may have had something to do with the holdup on them.
In general, though, it will be a very similar Wolfgang. And the story was they were going to be made in Mexico.
It'll take a lot to get me away from my Peavey Wolfgangs.

uh, no.
ed owns everything that he can own because of his musicman experience.
at musicman he thought he owned the pickup designs and a few other things only to find out whatsis name from musicman patentend anything he could.
with peavey his stipulation was for him to own everything. i have interviews (or had anyway) with ed stating this exactly. he can take the whole guitar anywhere he wants, he owns everything that can be owned under patent and copyright law in the us.
you are most definately mixing up the musicman situation with the peavey situation.
ed may be a drunk, he's not stupid especially after comming out of a deal like th emusic man one.
