Default This may be the most brutal political ad of the year

No, it's not the usual mud-slinging. Just the hard cold reality of what the self centered Republican holier than thou agenda is doing to millions of Americans...

And forget that it's from a Missouri senate race. If you voted for a pig who won't do the right thing on this issue, you're as guilty as Jim Talent is.

    Bullshit.

    http://www.theconstrainedvision.com/escr.html

If you want to waste your money, fine. Keep your hands off mine for this worthless crap. I especially can't stand selfish assholes who didn't give a rat's ass about this stuff before they were affected by it, then want everyone to give up everything (to the government no less) for their research.

Oh, am I too "politically incorrect" to call a dying man an asshole? Good. I wish him well and pray for a cure for this terrible disease (I am actually a pretty big fan of his work), but that doesn't change he is wrong on this issue and has become a total demagogue.

Notice how he never used the word "embryonic," like all the other demagogues? That is typical, because they really want you to think ALL stem cell research will cease. That's as close to lying as it comes.

Wow, I have to thank FORD for this video. I just reread the article I referenced. It proves everything about the pro-ESCR crowd correct in a 30 second spot. This makes me feel so smart...

    Can someone say, "embryonic?"

So your "source" is some fucking moron with a crappily designed website who posts articles from other right wing idiots?

Well, fuck you if my authority on the subject isn't a little more personal.

I lost two grandparents to this fucking disease and it was painful to watch them suffer with it. It's somehow even more painful watching a guy just a few years older than myself going through it. Not because he's Michael J Fox, fucking TV star. But because if there's any kind of genetic component to this fucking shit, I've got pretty goddamned lousy odds of avoiding it, and my mother, currently in her 60's probably has an even worse shot. Throw in all the uncles, aunts, and cousins, and my sister for good measure. All potential targets. So excuse me if I take this shit a little personally.

Goddamn it, research could be done, and should be done. On Parkinsons. Alzheimers (you know, that shit that killed your GOD Ronald Reagan). Diabetes. Spinal Injuries. Cancer. The list is as long as a medical dictionary. But why not??

Because close minded FUCKHEADS like you would rather defend embryos. Little clumps of frozen cells which will never be a fucking "baby" and will be flushed down the goddamn toilet anyway

You're flushing full grown human lives down the toilet. Literally. And for WHAT??

Well, as I said..... the topic deserves a little more consideration than "Oh yeah, well some idiot with a blog who reposts a bunch of Bush-sucking crap says blah blah blah"

How bout some fucking compassion from the alleged "compassionate conservatives"? You can't use the ridiculous Catholic church arguments on these embryos. They aren't going to be implanted in anyone's uterus, so why then, for the love of Christ, would anybody be opposed to something useful coming from it?

Ask Nancy Reagan if you don't want to believe "FORD the liberal wacko".

The same morons that oppose SCR will almost certainly defend animal testing. Get a fucking clue.

"You may recognize some of these chemicals. Let's start with cyanide...The one the Aum Shinrikyo cult attempted to use to commit mass murder in a Tokyo subway in May 1995...The same cyanide produced routinely--1.4 million tons per year--for use in the production of plastics, adhesives, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and so on. It seems that those who put small amounts of cyanide in subways are terrorists. But those who produce it in mass quantities and contaminate broad reaches of soil, water, and air, killing countless living beings, are not terrorists, but rather capitalists, and are counted among the finest and most powerful people on the planet."

    Lemme get this straight.

Bush is a bad guy because he doesn't want to give large, billion dollar bio-tech corperations billions of dollars for research that they're already carrying out on their own dime?

You want to give billions in taxpayer dollars to biilion-dollar bio-tech firms?

    Congratulations, you're a Necon.

No, Bush is a bad guy (this time) because he's too closely tied to the pharmaceutical industry, which makes no money off of cured diseases, but rather long term diseases, which their poisons can claim to treat the symptoms of.

And would I rather give billions to a biolab then to Halliburton?

    In a heartbeat.

If I may weigh in on this issue, my Mom is dying of Alzheimer's and it is beyond sad to see someone who had such a steel trap mind just wither away to nothing. Like the new Bob Seger song, its a Long Goodbye that is getting longer by the day. My two older brothers are typical right wing Conservative Christian types who I somewhat agree with most of the time and love them all the time, but SCR it something that is sounding better and better every day. I know my Mom is probably too far gone, but maybe someone else's Mom could be saved.

There is evidence to show that adult stem cells only provide a few of the types of cells within the body whereas embryonic stem cells can be coaxed to provide them all. Just curious. If you had a child that could be saved by stem cells from an embryo, would you use it, or just say that it is BS, and refuse the treatment?

Wow, your ignorance knows no bounds.

First off, pharmacutical companies own or are in partnership with bio-tech companies right now:

    http://jncicancerspectrum.oxfordjour...nci;90/18/1324

Second off, the idea that pharmacutical companies make money by making/keeping people sick is a lie that has been spread by snake-oil "Alternative Medicine" types since the 1960s. I could point out that since 1964 medicine has wiped out Small Pox, Polio and a host of other diseases through vaccination. Diseases that I'm sure they could be making billions of dollars a week selling meds for. I would aslo point out that since 1964, getting cancer isn't an automaitc death sentence like it once was, even though modern medicine has to fight a number of factors (environmental and genetic).

But the simplest question to ask that is PROOF that the idea that pharmacutical companies need to keep people sick to make money is BULLSHIT is this one:

If they came up for a cure for cancer, diabetes, bi-polar disporder, asthma, lukemea, obesity or whatever chronic condition that was killing you, your spouse, parent or child....how much would you pay for it? How much would you be willing to pay for a 100% cure for what ails you? How much would you pay to ensure that your wife or child lives to an old age? Would you mortage your house? Sell your house and live under a bridge? Would you rob a bank?

My guess is that anybody who's lost a family member or has gone through cancer treatment themselves would answer yes to almost all of those questions. Hell, even a cure for baldness would rake in billions of dollars a year. There is no way, zero, nada for pharmacuticals to loose money on a fucking cure.

Your four year-old daughter has an agressive brain cancer, she's in pain and will die in weeks...but Big Pharacon has a cure, a series of 4 pills at $75,000 a piece. Between charities, state and federal programs and other financial aid programs already in place, that girl gets her meds and Big Pharmacon gets their money. Everybody's happy.

That's just basic economics. Cancer is genetic (for now, in the future who knows?) and that means that people will continue to get it, which means that pharacutical companies would be able to sell their "Cure" at a static level for at least a generation.
