some color thoughts

I am building a JEM project. I call it my ebay guitar because everything except possibly the pickups will come from ebay.

here is what I have and I would like some color ideas for the body

JEM monkey grip body
cosmo chrome edge tremolo
cosmo chrome hardware
amber orange mirror pickgaurd and trus cover

I am thinking a deep blue with evolution blue pickups, but my daughter
fears it will look like a Denver Bronco guitar (whom I despise)

any thoughts on other colors or how blue might turn out?

How 'bout either a Ferrari Red or Yellow?

I don't know what the pickups or hardware will look like, but I think both colors would look good on a JEM body...

I like red, but I already have the amber pickgaurd, which remember, covers a large portion of the body. It was my inspiration to do the project in the first place.

I am not sure red and orange would work.

I have also thought black... but that reeks of halloween.
my daughter says silver, but I have never seen a silver that
really gets a good gloss.

pink with green pickups or vice versa

but im afraid youll need a black pickguard for that to be reallY f***in awesome

black hardware, maple neck/frets with pink inlays and pink headstock

also, blue with pink pickups amber pickguard, maple neck/frets with pink inlays and black headstock

I see where your going, not sure I want it THAT wild, but different color pickups would add something I havent considered.

Wait, you despise the Denver Broncos or your daughter?!!

Seriously, though, good luck with the project. I've done four Wolfgang mostly-eBay project guitars. It's truly fun to put your own specific ideas into someone else's guitar to make it your own.

yeah I know what you mean with that, but most ibanez's look really good with insane colours, Ill just show you what I mean hang on

painted body regal blue today. I am pretty happy with it.

but now im torn on the pickups.

blue.. may not match exactly in shade, so would it look bad?
black... the safe answer
green... typical radical for a JEM.

my daughters says dont go green, it is suppossed to be mine... not every other JEM.

I will post a pic before I wet sand and clear coat tomorrow with the gaurd laying on it.

I don't know what color regal blue is, but I'm guessing its darker than the shade of the blue p'ups. Have you thought about white? Or would that be color overload?

How about mixing it up? A black and a blue? "Black 'n Blue"...ha.

Sounds like fun. I'd probably go with the black set.

well here is a pick (no clear coat, wet sand, polish etc... keep inmind)

unfortunately, the blue is darker in person than this pic, so not sure it will
help.

well evo's are in, the HS-2 went on 30 day back order.

unfortunately, they are lighter blue than the magazine picture. So I would
probably been better off with black. oh well, can always change later.

oh, and Dimarzio doesnt give ya the freakin springs unless ya order the rings.
