I've been around a while man, I know when something has jumped the shark from discerning, all aspects, all sides discussion to shit throwing. When the name calling and telling others that their mother was choking on their dick, I'd say the plot is pretty much lost. You can try to get it back from there, but rarely does it happen.

Look past the mod and ask the posters why they have to go there. Tell Zorba and FORD how much you would have liked to discuss that topic further and that you don't appreciate that bullshit because you come bringing actual discussion, not yo-momma crap.

It is a shame that the thread needed to be closed, as I found it to be an intriguing subject.

Yet I'd point out that we did try a discussion on this subject a couple of years ago (we lost it in the first major hack), yet it too degenerated into mindlessness whilst involving a fellow named "outstrung" or something of the like.

The net result was more heat than light. There are some very clever and astute minds around here. Sadly the personal feelings held by some against others tend to derail things at times, and instead of a coffee klatch one get's a steel cage match.

I beg to differ. Clearly, Zorba started the shitfest. Did I throw it right back in his face? Damn right I did. Which ain't a surprise to anyone who's been at this board for any length of time.

However, I suspect other motivations here. It's funny how the thread was NOT closed immediately after the so called "shitfest", but only after I posted the testimony of a German survivior of the Third Reich who pointed out the very real parallels between the Chimpministration and Hitler. To me, it seems that someone might have been more uncomfortable with that reality being posted than they were with the "shitfest" of several hours before.

Of course there is a slight chance I could be wrong. In which case someone would merely delete the "shitfest" posts and restore the rest of the thread for discussion.

I doubt that someone was afraid of the very real comparisons of the Weimar Republic and America in 2001-present being pointed out or discussed, as the notion has been around for years.

I honestly believe it was closed for the reasons seen stated. I highly doubt he has a subversive agenda towards certain posters, nor do I believe he has his lips wrapped around our President's pecker.

I really don't need to after 6 years of reading. As for timing, dude, I have a lot of posts, but I really don't live on here. When I am on here, I'm doing very important shit, like trying to manage the fantasy NBA league. I check in on Non once in a while, but not often enough to nail up coffins the moment subjects turn.

Fuck that. If you want to talk about all that shit, go for it. If you want to keep the discussion active, it's up to you. I don't think that is the case. If it were, I would think he would have deleted the post and then closed the thread.

There was a bunch of complete shit once with FabShadow *shivers* that crudied up the pic thread = outta here. There was also an anal explosion from a quaint japanese gal where I honestly believe there was some sort of motoized pump spraying something that resembled the squirts from her anal oriface. ....we kept that one.
