    Default Sam's new project?

Witht the current state of VH even more up in the air than usual at the moment (and hey aint that saying something!), what do you think Sam's next project should be?
Id like to see him give the wabos a rest, grab MA, Chad Smith,Tommy Lee, Vinnie Paul, Hammett, Cantrell, Billy Duffy, Kroeger and any other rocker who hangs at the Wabo and release an album of classic rock songs. Now before people start bagging me! Cut about 10 to 12 classic songs, some well known, some obscure and cut a loose, raw set that would sound like the stones on steroids.
Or grab MA, satch and denny carmissi and release a balls out rock record?
Then again there are a couple of other dudes that play guitar and drums that would be cool, but I dont think they care.
What do the red heads think? Dont get me wrong the wabos are cool ,I just Sam needs to get turn da music up a bit with his buds from the bar.

At the Chicago show, Sam and Eric Johnson seemed to have a good thing going. Eric Johnson was smoking on Finish What You Started.

I wouldn't mind seeing Sammy give the Wabos a rest for just one summer...cuz if they toured again, I'd miss it, and I haven't missed a Sam show in a few years.

I'd like he and Mike to get with another drummer and guitar player, similar to what they were about to do with Planet Us, and make a real rockin' album. Eddie and Alex are my first choice. After them, maybe Eric Johnson wouldn't be so bad?

A revival of the Planet Us project would be cool...i really like the 'classic rock covers' disk idea (good work Cammo)...i'll prob get some heat for this one, but i'd actually like to see an unplugged disk of some Sam classics and even a few Montrose tunes. His semi-unplugged mini tour he did to promote Marching to Mars back in the spring of '97 was amazing...
...and in the end, on dreams we will depend...

I was thinkin' the same thing!?! Being 90 miles from Austin, I''m SURE I would have heard something about that...

On either Mikey's site or Sammy's site, there are pictures of this.

No foolin'. It went down (with EJ).

Tell you what, getting with a ax slayer like Johnson would probably make Eddie a little aggitated. Not that it really matters any more.

Just from the way things look, Sam & Mike are done with VH. Nothing more in it for them (outside of cash). Now the whole reunion thing is a been there and done that deal (and it wasn't really look upon that fondly afterward).

Wow! It is true. How the fuck did I miss that? One of the coolest things about Sam is that he'll jam with just about anyone who'd around, no disrespect to EJ.

Dude, it fookin' rocked. Eric Johnson was just all over FInish What Ya Started. They played like a 20 minute version, and then I believe he stayed on the stage for Fight For your Right To Party...Chicago was one of the few places last year they had an opening band....and it was Eric Johnson...so I had a feeling he was gonna jump on stage with Sam.

When they were done, Sam says, that's one of three best guitar players around...the crowd mocked booed a little bit, and Sam said, what I said one of three?

    It was rockin' though.

It was fucking LOUD too. Three guitarists and I just felt my seat rumbling harder than it did all night. I wasn't sitting, but you could feel it against you. It was a very fun performance.

Yeah Cabo Bret good call, an acoustic slant on a few tunes would be real cool, maybe a swamp, bluesy version of serious ju ju or something in that vein. Without it being a comparison to Santana, I think if Sam wrote some stuff with other guys like the ones mentioned, there would be some real cool stuff. Planet US had real potential, respecially with Satch in the mix. Come to think of it, Sam SHOULD call either satch or eric johnson, just for the piss off factor alone! I really think Sam could do justice to a few classics from the stones, the who, free, creedence, mountain, the beatles etc. and given the possible talent he could muster and his love for crankin out loose, grooving covers, , I think it could really do something. F##k, id but it!

    Vocals: Sam
    Bass: MA
    Guitar: Cantrell
    Rythm: Billy Duffy
    Drums: Chad Smith

A song: Baba O'reilly (the who)

The possibilities are endless, who else has got some smokin line ups and songs, maybe the idea will gather some momentum?
