I also seem to remember reading somewhere about how the management was trying to push a rivalry between Piper and another well known band of the time.....

    ....these guys

    Welcome back, Van HALEN!!!!

...It's the BAND and Dave is really the cat that can front VH. He sang his ASS off and was really cool. No cheese here guys, this is filet Mignon! - Steve Lukather's comment after witnessing a Van HALEN 2007 rehearsal

Something I came across on surfing the net..

When Van Halen made their first demo with G.Simmons, KISSes manager declined to sign them and said to have just signed a band called "Piper" (smart move, eh..).

Does anyone know, who were in this band?

Here´s a clue: one member of this band has been brought up in an interview with Mike Anthony. Mike was asked, if rumours about this member being the next lead singer for VH are true....

    Yep!

    Billys site says:
"signs his band Piper to A & M Records... cuts two lp's: "the most articulate, emotionally intense rocker the 70's has produced to date."

    Yeah, right...

...Aucoin, Kiss' manager was also big on the band "Starz" ...years later a friend of mine and I ran into the guitar player from Starz selling KISS merchandise, that he'd supposedly ripped off from the joint warehouse both the bands had shared, at a record show in L.A.!!!

I've said it before in various 4th singer threads, Squier could do some good work with VH. He is a great song writer. I was thinking more along the lines of just a few songs on a multi-singer record rather that singer #4.
Better use it up before it gets old!

Here's something scary for ya, I've actually got Piper's one and only album! It's got a "for promotional use only, not for sale" thingy stamped into the back of it, don't remember where I got it. I played it once, and once was definitely enough!
