So whats up with you?
I thought we could use thread letting us all tell each other what we are up to.
I am in the middle of a Kitchen remodel. Its really not been much fun. I had one proposal for cabinets from a company we have used for years, we have had the same sale's guy for the past 8 years. We give him at least $50,000 a year in business. When I faxed him the floor plan I made sure to let him know this was for my house. He came back with a price that was wayyyyyy out of line IMHO. I went to another cabinet company they came back with a price$2,500.00 less than the first guy. Ripped up the flooring and I am installing Bamboo floors all throughout the place. My Hot tub went tits up, now I need to get a repair guy out here to replace the main board or something like that, there goes $300.
I am also getting new blinds for my house. I liked the 1-1/2'' wood ones. I picked out one I liked and went to place my order. The mean sales lady and I dam near got into a argument. She wanted to send a service person out to measure the windows. I informed her that I was pretty sure I could handle the task. She went on and on about how once they are ordered they are yours, so she would just send someone out to measure for me. I once again informed her that I know how to read a tape measure and that I could handle it. AT this point she insisted on sending someone out, I once again told her I am a General Contractor and can read a tape and write down the measurements without getting to confused.
I have a wedding to go to this weekend. I really hate weddings, I have been dreading this for months. My cousin is getting hitched to a dude that is 13 years older than her, he is my age. She has never had a boyfriend before this guy. She has had two bridal showers and they all brought gifts, NOW I have to buy her a wedding gift as well. I guess there are going to be like 350 people at this thing so I am hoping to sneak out around 9 or 10 pm.
I wasnt even invited to this guys lame bachelor party.((Just My Two Cents))
And thats about what its worth.

My daughter had her tonsils out last week... We break ground on our $48k addition next week... A weather tight (I finish interior) 26x26 two car garage with a master bedroom suite above it... With a deck to eventually tie into the other deck and down into the pool and gazebo that is scheduled to be completed in 2007... All while I manage a youth hockey program, handling registrations, ice schedulings of some 200 skaters on 14 teams... and working on my truck to Get'R Ready for snowplowing this winter...

Bamboo is great, of course its a personal design choice.
Bamboo is the hardest hardwood flooring product on the market today. When it first started to show up in homes it was priced very high because it was new and everyone wanted it. I priced it for a few remodels it ranged from $8 to $12 per SQ FT. You can now get it for $1.99 per SQ FT. Make sure you get three ply solid bamboo and not one ply with a plywood base. Bamboo grows so fast and is in high demand that the prices have come down.
My Dad put it in his house and has had no problems. I have not heard of any negative's. You can get verticle or horizontel grain, many color choices.
I-Floors.com has a good selection, they have also started to open stores. Internet prices and retail store prices are the same.((Just My Two Cents))
And thats about what its worth.

Great idea OLO, I could use to vent on something.....I'm contemplating a big move down south. There's my wife and I and my 2 sons crammed in a 2 bedroom apartment right now here in upstate NY and it's pretty expensive here now. Hell, I'm already half packed and want to make this move before the end of the year if I can get up enough balls to do it! I will NEVER be able to afford a house in in NY, the real estate is crazy up here, down south I will have the chance.
I have friends down there who are bugging the hell out of us to move and I really want to got but I do have some reservations. I know moving my family down south is probably a smart idea. I can get into a 3 bedroom place, twice the size of the one I'm in now for 100 bucks less a month. My boys can each have their own bedroom, the schools are great, way better than the school district I'm in now, I can transfer my job and my wife will probably make double the salary down there in the field she's in....there's just too many positives for us to go.
I'm a 36 year old man and bottom line...I'm scared to make this big move. I don't want to make a mistake and screw things up for my family!!! Any words of encouragement will be greatly appreceiated!!

Emm, GO!!
Once you get settled and the dust clears you will be glad you did. Were exactly would you be moving? If you can get into a house then you should by all means do it. The pice of real estate is scarry these days, I am so glad I bought when I did. Its not even leveling off in the Pacific NW its just getting higher and higher.((Just My Two Cents))
And thats about what its worth.

I'm in full on fishing mode. I got skunked last weekend, but the weekend before I hooked a 32 pounder. I smoked half and am eating more tonight. Going again Saturday (crabbing too).
I've hung up the golf clubs for the year because I suck now.
I'm working from home, but am starting to consider consulting. I can relate to the above, it's a little scary, but in your case I have to say I don't understand your hesitaiton from what you listed.
I went to a memorial service yesterday for a guy I hired out at the golf club to be a marshall. Big huge dude. I ended up hiring his kid too. ...good kid. He broke my heart on the eulogy. Anyways, it was cool that he chose to have his memorial at the golf course. I didn't really know it meant THAT much to him. At the buffet line, I saw a familiar face. I zero'd in and realized it was one of my best friends from High School that I'd lost touch with before I even went in the Navy. It was really cool seeing him again. It turns out, he was related to this guy. He lives up in Renton now, and runs a golf course as a superintendant. Amazing. I met his fiance too. Nice gal. Small world or what?!sheepa latta peepah dabba looka foh a moopy

just got out of the hot tub after walking the zoo all day with my daughter. She is a senior in high school and wanted some photography shots for school.
I am in the process of building my first guitar, a jem copy. I was inspired by a pickguard I saw on the internet... same day on ebay a guy was selling half price jem bodies because they were not completely sanded... I thought it was an omen, so I decided to go for it.
got a mint edge floyd trem and most the other hardware off ebay (all cosmo chrome) just have to paint and find a neck.
spent yesterday sanding and sealing and priming it.I SURVIVED TEXAS LINKERS WEEKEND I, II, III, IV and VI and VII.barely made it to VIII time to slow down
I musta had a broken middle finger for V

dangit...and here i was hoping you might be moving as far south as Texas (Tejas: we are the friendly state, ya' know!?!). Best of luck on your big decision, emm. You're taking your family's best interest into consideration, so you'll make the right decision.
Meet me in Cabo!
