When VH was first touring in 78-79' I was like 2 years old by the time they broke up in 85' I was only 6. Needless to say I never got to see the origional line up live in concert. I saw Sammy on the F.U.C.K. tour in Cleveland and also in 95' on the Balance tour and I even went to see Mach 3 in Cleveland. Big difference between the two as far as energy goes! Sam had so much more! God only knows how much energy is put off when VH and Dave play but will I ever get to see this happen or will I fall fate to the age factor? Please say it isn't so! I consider myself an obsessive fan but how can that be if I have never seen classic VH in concert? Please guys give the 6 year old boy inside of me the chance to see his heros' in concert!

I obviously wish I had seen them back then, but I certainly don't think that diminishes being an obsessive fan at all.

I was born about five months after Dave left! But I don't think someone shouldn't be considered an obsessive fan just because they haven't seen them with DLR, especially if they couldn't possibly have. But pretty soon we're all going to be able to say we saw VH with DLR.

There's definately a series of trade-offs that come with age. They're better musicians now, and more experienced at putting on shows. They're also in their 40s, and not physically able to do some of the things they did in their twenties. Thankfully not a whole lot of those things involve the stage show!

I saw Dave back in '99. It was a short set, but he seemed to have as much energy as ever.

You're as obsessed as the rest of us...don't worry...as Dan Halen says, we'll all get to see the original again soon!!!

Age is a factor I think and why wouldn't it? I can't see Ed doing "flying eddies" in his 50's so to end all this they just need to get their butt in gear and go! Lol ...

Age doesn't matter....They are going to jam!!! So what if they do not parachute in or do "flying Eddies" etc....It just matters (IMO) that they sound good and we have a good time watching, listening and wishing we were the guitar tech!!!!!

They didn't do that in 1978, no reason to believe they'd do it now.

Ignored Didn't they have actors parachut in and it looked like they did? But it was probably the coolest thing to see live. (Maybe I didn't ignore) SORRY

Yeah, real jumpers came into the stadium and then got into a vehicle that VH was already in, wearing the same gear. So when VH got out, it appeared as if they had in fact been the jumpers.

Dave tells the story really well in his book as I recall.

To bad they didn't go throught with the Tank running over the volkswagon bit when they opened for Areosmith. Damn pecker head Areosmith had to go and get films of Airplanes bombing tanks to play in spite of this so Dave called the whole thing off. this is also in the book!

Tans Trem: You are right...i also think that it only matters that we can see them together regardless of the former stage antics.....BUT: I do expect something that will surprise the general VH fan into "goosebumps" or total "laughter",,,,,anyone want a beer.....BREW CREW is here!!!!!

Eddie did an interview once and was asked about the parachute thing and he said "that was one of roth's big ideas" and did nothing but complain about it, he said it was the dumbest things blah blah blah. Boy is he fun or what? I think Eddie is the greatest rock guitarist ever but man, talk about a real downer.
