OLYMPIA, Wa. - Former lead singer for legendary '80's rock band Van Halen David Lee Roth announced Saturday that he is going to be performing as the opening act for a puppet show at the Capital Playhouse in Olympia, Wa for their New Year's Eve bash.

Roth is best known for being the flamboyant frontman for Van Halen before leaving in a well publicised split that left both parties pointing fingers at whose fault it was. Roth also had a short lived radio show replacing the legendary Howard Stern in 2006 and is a part time EMT.

Capital Playhouse's theme for this year's puppet show is Dr. Seuss. A spokesperson from there said that it is a major coup getting someone of Roth's stature to perform in a setting geared for children of all ages. He will be backed by bluegrass artists in support of the 2006 release Strummin' With the Devil.

Tickets go on sale at Ticketmaster on Saturday, November 18th at 10am at local outlets and online.
