    Default Beating a dead horse

    So,

Last night in Toronto I went and saw the Motley Crue / Aerosmith double bill. What a great concert! Both bands were tight & having a riot.

Here is my question....Motley Crue absolutely hated eachother after they broke up in the 90's. Tommy & Vince couldn't be in the same room. Mick was on his death bed, Nikki was just angry at everyone for not being able to make the band work anymore. It was a mess.

Last night (which was my first time seeing them in concert) these guys were having a blast. I would dare say they outshone Aerosmith. They were laughing, getting along and really seemed to get off on playing for the crowd. Why can't Ed / Al suck it up and do the same with any of the lead singers they've had - let alone Dave.

These guys are proof that you DON'T need new music to go out and have fun. THey've proved that fans still care - IF the band cares about them. Why is it so hard for VH to get this?!???!!??

On a side note, personal fav moment of the concert was when Tommy went out and jammed with Aerosmith. The crowd went absolutely nuts. After, Steve asked that we all sing Tommy happy birthday. The guy was so happy after he literally skipped off stage.

I've seen Motley Crue 3 times, February 27th, 2005, March 2nd and March 3rd 2006. Each time they sounded great, they were tight on stage, and you'd never know they had so many problems backstage in previous years. I think Crue simply has a better perspective on life, and they understand what's important and not to let petty squabbles ruin their music and friendships. Still waiting for more news on that new album though.

You are correct, it is a "dead horse".

Yet this website reminds me of a quote I read somewhere regarding Led Zeppelin (it may have been from the booklet included in the 4-CD boxed set).

It had something to do with the fact that although the band was dormant after Bonham's death, "Never before in history had a fanbase so fervently denied a band's nonexistance" (or words to that effect).

Long ago this placed ceased to be "solely" about Van Halen, true. Yet people still passionately post here about the band. Nothing wrong with that, not at all.

Just for shits and giggles, I wonder if someone could come up with the band's sales figures over the past few years? Might make some interesting reading.

It is from the box set...'Not since Elvis joined the army, had an audience so refused to acknowledge an artists inactivity' is my paraphrase...

Thanks Sacto! Reports of my senility are exaggerated, yet not greatly.

    I appreciate the confirmation.

I saw the Crue a while back too and they were great. I will have to say though, that Vince Neil really needs to get his shit together. On top of his alchohol problem, he never bothers to sing the songs he just sort of makes weird mumbling noises.

Fair...but he was there, with Tommy (they both hated eachother)....bottom line is they (as a band) put their personal shit aside out of respect to the fans.

The problemo is that the particulars never face off and have a screaming match. At least the crew or aerosmith can get it off the chest. You see Eddie venting his shite in a guitar mag, Dave on MTV and Sammy on some St. Louis radio show but they never talk to each other. or scream at each other. or biff each other (ala Charlie Watts and Mick Jagger). They act like a bunch of middle school spoiled babies. They shoulod all just vent to each others faces, not the fuggin media.
