I Overdosed on Van Halen

I have to take issue with the fact that the topic of "Does anyone know what time of day Eddie VH takes a shit"(or whatever it was, was dismissed so soon). To be honest I thought this was the funniest intro. to a thread I've seen on here yet. Obviously, the author was poking fun at the fact that so many of us take this whole thing so seriously. And yes, I'm guilty of such as well. Man, I'll tell you something, discovering this place was like a godsend for me. I've been in love with this band for so long..oh man! You have no idea! I arrived hear mainly because I had heard rumours that DLR was back. Hey man, what a chance for a 29 year old guy to re-live those childhood and teenage years again! But after being here for the last few months, it seems as if alot of the fans have lost the same humour that attracted me to the band in the first place. "Forget Eddie!" "No,Screw Dave!" "Yer both wrong! It was all Sammys fault!" Shit man, if such negativity existed when I first got into the band,(1983)well, hell, I wouldn't be here today. I guess what I'm trying to say is that a big part of why I was into VH to begin with was that we all had a hell of alot of fun listening to these guys. I can't think of a time that I ever listened to this band without having a big smile on my face before. Before it was all about having a good time and celebrating being alive! Man, I really miss being able to mention the band without the attached negativity. So someone was pointing out the fact that we all take this band to seriously anymore. So what?? Hey, I mean no disrespect to this forum. If not for the reunion rumours, I would not have found this place. I have no problem admitting this. But I'm here now, so why can't we have some fun? I really dig this forum, that a few,(or maybe one) VH fan dreamt up. Cool! But do we have to be so politically correct? In my opinion, this attitude is what sent the band up shit creek to begin with. I've been as guilty as anyone in my own negativity here. No doubt, I'm gonna get my ass flamed big time for this post, but if we are going to O.D. on any aspect of the band, let's make it the FUN part! Long live VH!!!!! By the way, Eddie has been known to shit between the hours of 12am and 3pm, depending.

Problem is.. I know the duude posted that in fun, and as a dig at how 'into it' we all are... but its gonna be taken the wrong way by someone pretty quick, and a shitfight ensues..

For the most part....if the thread is depressing/no hope left.....you can do one of two things......join them in their pity party or invite them to your VH party....

AllSoupNoFish, I understand your concern and I TOTALLY agree with you bro. I love the whole irony of VH. It is all very serious; and all very ridiculas! It makes for good jokes and rips on VH. It also makes for good shitfights. It is all fun if you ask me. Sometimes I have a good sense of humor and am very lighthearted. Then again, once in a while I will loose my tempor and vent my anger. Most of the people on this forum are very nice and sincere. But, their are always a few assholes that try and trip my trigger. Anyways, you are NOT a asshole. Hey madden, I hear you, and I'm glad you get the gist of my post. I remember sitting on a Greyhound about ten years ago, arguing with a friend of mine about the playing abilty of Eddie vs. Steve Vai. This really older man was sitting across from us, and up until that point, we both thought that he was totally oblivious to the conversation that the two of us were engaged in. All of a sudden the guy says out of the blue, "Eddie Van Halen? That motherfucker could play a symphony wit' his ass hairs!" We both fucking lost it! Just goes to show how far the magic (and humour) of the Mighty VH extends!!!!!
