OLP MM1?
So, I'm thinking about buying one of these OLP MMI Axis guitars. Anyone have any experience with these? http://www.musiciansfriend.com/produ...tar?sku=516000
I'll probably end up changing the pickups to Dimarzios, but as far as the playability goes, how are they? I'm used to playing on Wolfgangs, and I simply love the necks on those guitars. How does the neck on the OLP compare to the Wolfgang? Thanks.

I heard only good things about them (well, considering the price range), but don't own one.
I think this one's even better: http://www.thomann.de/gb/olp_olmm1fna.htm
It has an Floyd-licensed Tremolo, and it shoul rock.

I personally own an OLP MM1 and all I can say is that it is the best guitar that I've ever played. The neck is almost exactly like the wolfgang and the guitar has excellent sustain. The floyd rose trem of course is good but not the best floyd out there. The only problem I experienced with the guitar is that the bridge on the guitar is cheap and breaks alot of strings. If you're a more softer player than that shouldn't be a problem. The stock pickups are excellent. The tuners are good too. This guitar closely compares to the EBMM and the Wolfgang IMO and of course is A LOT less expensive. Overall, this guitar is meant to be played and is gig-worthy too.
Good Luck

I think the $200 or so is better spent on something used and better built.Last edited by AT; 09.30.06 at 03:32 PM.

I'm not sure of the last post. The OLP I played on had no gloss on the neck and played really nice. It played similar to the EB MM1. The EB was nice, it's just that all of Ed's Guitars have been way overpriced IMO. (especially EVH Charvels, which are a recreation of Ed's $125 Frankie)
The OLP is a fun guitar to play and well worth the money.

not sure about the post earlier about bad finish and pick ups and all that crap,, too picky?? I own a piano black OLP with a Floyd and I do whole-hearted agree that the tremolo is not the best one out there and does need upgraded, it's the only damn thing that needs upgraded on it.. I love mine. DO NOT change those pick ups they are great in it, blew me away how mine cost less then 300 and the only thing I did to it was block the trem so I could add a d-tuna to it. In fact I want another one, very stable guitar actually for gigging, yeah it does need a set-up when you get it, but hell for one that good it's worth it,, PICK IT UP

I'm not really interested in the one with the floyd. I just want the one with the regular tremolo. Anyone know how that bridge is? I'm mainly worried about tuning stability. I'm not a bar user, but I'm a big string bender.

Hey these are excellent guitars! Right now there is a piano black with floyd and a rosewood fingerboard on ebay. I bought this exact guitar for 249.00 four months ago and I love it. Last I saw they still had a few at that price, I added a d-tuna to it, and because it's not a 2,000 EBMM I don't feel bad about customizing this one so I sanded the neck and tongue oiled it and adjusted pick up height on it, just some odds and ends adjusting for personal taste but these guys that are selling it even sets it up nice for you. Highly recommend this guitar.

I personaly dont think its that great of a guitar. BUT, for the money its a steal! I could see it being a 400 dollar guitar easy, but I could be one of those picky peeps.
