I have not had a speeding ticket for 15 years. tonight my best man in my wedding, who I have not seen in 10 years stopped by and said "Dude come up to the bar". So I did, and after one sip of my Budweiser I said "I have to run home and get some pictures from my wedding. Would you believe I was driving 31 in a 25 zone and get pulled over by a HP. I had a sip of beer on my breath and he thought he had made his quota. While checking out all of the high tech equipment in the cruzer, that they did not have in 1987. He asked me to go through the test. During the tests he asked me why I was smiling, I told him, "I was serious when I said that I had one sip and that this was very interesting. He said "so you are telling me that you only drank one sip of beer tonight". I said, in a confident way, "yes". And I know this was a stupid thing to say, I said "But I am going back up there".
To tell a long story short, Hate me if you will, I later drove home safely very drunk. I don't know why but I think it was very empowering to the self esteem to get checked for a D.U.I. when you know that you are sober.

My ex girlfriend was killed by a drunk driver 9 years ago when he crossed the center line and hit her and the guy she was dating at the time head on.
