I trust the linkers. Help me out.

Anything new out there that I'd enjoy. We all like Van Halen, but something else?

Shinedown is a def. listen. There is Hinder, Three Days Grace, Evens Blue, Egypt Central, Blue October. If you like metal you should check out Trivium, Cilent Civilian, Parkway Drive, Blood Runs Black, Killswitch Engage, Shadodws Fall. Dude, it's out there just got to look and listen.

Dude, I can give you names of tons of really great bands but, thing is I just know that for classic rock/metal fans the vocals of those bands are a major turn off, to the extent they won't even give it a try. Tahoewabo mentioned Killswitch Engage - well if you like them I would definately go on.

The new one by Paul Gilbert is really good if you like guitar intrumental. He pays tribute to Eddie as well. Very cool!

Avenged Sevenfold "City of Evil" is pretty good if you are into "NWOBHM". The Loretta Lynn album produced by Jack White from "The White Stripes" is terrific, it's called "Van Leer Rose".

The new Paul Simon, called "Surprise" was co-produced by Brian Eno, and should be avoided at all cost. Words alone can not stress how extremely suckoid this album is.

Also avoid "Clap Your Hands Say Yeah", unless you enjoy pulling your hair out in total confusion.

There...two for, two against. Good luck in your search for fulfillment, I know it ain't exactly easy.

Killswitch, Killswitch, Killswitch!! Definitely check out Alive or Just Breathing from them. Also, if you go to their myspace page you can listen to their stuff from The End of Heartache, different singer, but damn good. As I Lay Dying is also outrageous, but only if you're into death metal type stuff.

I'll second Buckcherry, Audioslave and Foo Fighters.

The latest CD's by David Gilmour (On An Island) and Live (Songs From Black Mountain) are masterpieces as well.

That's a hard target to shoot for when I don't know what it is! I'd have to see a list of bands that you currently dig before I'd even think about naming some recommendations. I mean, sure we all have Van Halen in some form or other as a starting point, but the wheels go in four different directions from there. Got people that love Rush, people that think Rush is the worse band ever commited to vinyl, people that love death metal, people that dig country, a few old punkers from way back, etc. Music is a personal thing and it touches us all in different ways - my first instinct is to say if you don't own any U2 to go out and buy them all, starting with either The Joshua Tree or Achtung Baby. Other people would say "no way" and probably toss in a few unkind adjectives at Bono and the gang. I'd say get the '70s classics like Hotel California, Rumours, Boston, Frampton Comes Alive!, Breakfast In America, etc, others would recommend "classic albums" from current bands I've never even heard of and doubtfully ever will.

First and foremost, though, if you haven't listened to any of LowLife's K-Scum shows, download some today - he puts a lot of work and great music into each one of those usually one-hour shows - mostly sticking to the older bands, but some new stuff gets in there too - find some unfamiliar songs you like and take it from there.
