    Behind The Music -- Pantera

Did anyone see the Behind The Music on Pantera last night? Towards the end, they showed pictures of Ed at Dimebag's funeral.

The original lead singer then went on to say how Eddie pulled out a Black & Yellow guitar, THE GUITAR from the Van Halen 2 coverart, and placed it in Dimebag's coffin. This story has been repeated before, but it was interesting hearing someone talk about it.

The singer also said that if 15-20 years ago, if someone had told Dimebag that Eddie Van Halen would be at his funeral and that he would bury him with the VH2 guitar, that Dimebag would have responded with a smile -- "Well, just kill me now!"

This was the first time I saw footage of the shooting and it was chilling. That was so wrong for someone to die, on stage, by a lunatic.

Anyway, there were some nice references to Ed -- unfortunately in the context of Dimebag's funeral.

I saw this last night as well. I agree, it was chilling to see all that.

I didn't care too much for Pantera's music but I respected that they were one of the best in their style of music.

I saw it a couple of months ago, I do love Pantera music, and to see the footage of the event when the lunatic killed Dimebag was stunning.
I loved how they all talked so cool about Eddie.

I wasn't crazy about Pantera either, but Dime was a badass and definitely followed in Ed's footsteps. Ed's gesture - putting that guitar in Dime's coffin - was a very classy move.

Finally seeing footage of his murder was terrible. Terrible tragedy.

I believe it was Dimbags brother Vinnie Paul that spoke about EVH laying the VHII guitar into dimebags coffin. Pretty cool.

Phil the singer pretty much just came off like a total dick in that program imo. Frikkin' premadonna. "I AM the fkn kid". What a joke.

Anyone ever hear about Pantera covering a VH song.

Awhile ago I read they were doing a song off of VHII.
This was at least 3 years ago.

That particular BTM is chilling. Dime was a great guitar player, unfortunately at 35 I'm just not angry enough to sit thru the songs to get to the solo. "Walk" might be the best angry song ever tho.

    Default Metal Inspired?

I am sorry he died. Nobody deserves to be killed by a crazed lunatic. From what I understand, he was a good man. My prayers are with his family, friends, and loved ones.

I did not see the behind the music.

Has anyone ever brought up that the style of music may inspire lunatics to kill? Listen, I've never been a huge believer in banning anything whether it be violent video games, movies, or music. I also lean towards the genetics arguement over environment when it comes to sociopaths...but has the question been asked?

Is it possible that anger-filled Pantera music and lyrics pushed some whack-job over the edge...or at least nudged him a little bit?

I think the question needs to be at least put out there, if anything as a way of not letting his death be in vain.

    RIP Dimebag.

Was the guy that shot Lennon also possibly nudged a little by Beatles music ?
Ok, assume one would find out it did nudge them both a little bit, what you wanna do about it ?

Fuckup sociopaths will "hear" what they want to in any bands lyrics.

I do agree some metal and rap music lyrics could incite those idiots to take the next step.
