I have no opinion on the new music from Ed, if he likes it, OK. I like it, it's not his best work, but it's OK. Anyhoo.....After Dave left/ got fired/ who cares, VH became a more pop rock, love song band. They were good, I liked Sam and Dave, but it was the direction they went. If you see pictures of Ed from the early days, with his band, they were sex, drugs and rock n roll. Enter Sam, that image cleans up. I know he wasn't clean and sober, but a least he tried to appear that way. Now, it's like he's going through a mid-life crisis, nothing wrong with that. I was just making an observation and wondered what some of you linkers think.

    Rock On!!

BTW>>> Has anyone heard the new Army of Anyone "Goodbye"? It's the guys from STP with out the singer, good stuff.

I think it's just a part of growing older. If Ed was trying to look like he did in the 70's at age 50, the band would be a bigger joke than it allready is. People would be going to see them in the same light they go to see a Poison show these days.Teens show up to see an "80's hair band" to see what it was like in the 80's, and have a good time. I'm glad that isn't van halen. I'd rather have the dysfunction we as van halen fans have grown to deal with.

Eddie is Eddie, he will rock us again.

Let him get through this faze in his life.

It may be with Dave, it may be with Sammy (I doubt it though) or it could be a whole new chapter in the legend of Van Halen.

I think that only works for Keith Richards & Willie Nelson, only they were somewhere near 50 in the 70's...or so it seems

Exactly. That's exactly what I was thinking with Dave on 2002 tour and Sam (to some degree). They're older, it's ok if they cut their hair or do whatever. You don't have to wear ripped jeans, or have long hair -- there shouldn't be any image you need to project anymore. The music speaks for itself, and your audience has now long outgrown all that other BS and is there for the musci.
It makes you wonder how comfortable these guys really are in their own skin. Eric Clapton (a guy I don't really like all that much) strikes me as a guy that's very comfortable in his skin. He looks just like an average guy now, and not ashamed of it. His music has mellowed considerably as well, which seems normal. Most people mellow as they age and mature. I don't get the very few that try and hang on to something they aren't anymore.

    SOME VH LINKS CLASSICS

"Sammy is fat, Dave is bald, Mike is next in line to be the Pope, Eddie is a drunk, Wolfie is fat, Gary is gay, CVH is VH, Mike is VH, Sammy can outsing Dave on a tequilla hangover, Eddie is a meth head, How Many Say I is the worst VH song ever, Up for Breakfast is a close second, Dave was horrible at radio and everybody hates the assless chaps.
Ok I think that covers everything." Ziggysmalls

"I sense that some of our newer passengers may be nervous due to the sudden turbulence. Please be seated, this is simply a normal part of the periodic ride.
I didn't say we'll get to the destination, but until Alex comes out a says what a complete waste of carbon DLR is, we're still climbing, so strap yourselves in.
Those of you who have been on this ride before, the hottie in the mini will be around shortly with your drinks......." Red
