Default VH reference in TOMBSTONE ?

I'm sittin' on the couch watchin' Tombstone this afternoon & in the scene where Wyatt ambushes Stillwell & Ike at the train station after putting Virgil, Morgan's body & the women on to leave, as the train leaves the station I noticed the rail car number is 5150. I know it's stupid.

Maybe they had to catch the "5150" cause they didn't want to catch the bad guys and "Hang 'em HIgh". Yep that was stupid.

A friend of mine's step dad is graphic art guy of some sort. He did all the art stuff on Tombstone. My freind's sister is a big Van Halen fan so the step dad apparently put 5150 on the train on purpose. I always said bullshit but he showed me a bunch of pictures with his step dad and the crew. Him with Kurt Russel and Val Kilmer. My buddy isn't a big VH guy so I don't think he'd have any reason to lie. Kind of cool.

I have heard this before. It was an intentional VH reference.

I saw the 5150 on the train the first time I saw the movie, and Van Halen was of course the first thing that came to mind. Now I find out that it was intentional. Cool!

Yeah, I noticed this sometime ago, I'm always pointing it out to people joking about how they did it on purpose. Now that I know it was intentional it's way better. Good to know that people are sneaking in VH in unexpected places.

Here is an old thread that talks about VH references in movies and TV. It's a good read, and Tombstone was mentioned in there.
