Default Cool Story For Hardcore WWII Buffs Only

Here's a story out of Russia - in Russian.

The gyst of the story is that a group of preservationists, a version of a classic car club. Pulled at WWII Soviet tank out of a lake where the Germans had hidden it in the latter days of the war. The tank has German markings on it which means it was a trophy tank.

The link has plenty of pictures so you're not missing anything.

Essentually , this club followed up on a story of a guy who remembered that whenhe was a boy he remembered seeing tank tracks leading into the lake.

Evidently, after they cleaned the engine out it started right up. You can't beat Russian simplicity.

I read this one a couple of months ago in a Model Military mag - the tank was actually dug up in Estonia. Here's my legal scan =] -

Although, after reading comments left on the article that axx posted I don't think it would be worse for any if Nazis actually would have actually captured the country-manufacturer of that T-34
