i think vh as a band will never be again. unless eddie can get it all together. van halen has to be ed al mike and sam or dave. no more new singers and no wolfie on bass. if eddie wanted to do an album with his son and al cool. but dont call it van halen maybe the halens or something. my thoughts are van halen with mike sam or dave shoukd do one more killer album and tour and go out on a high note. not just fade away.

Great thoughts. In a perfect world, but who here honestly believes these guys could put it together long enough to not only write and record a record -- but to then take it on the road for 6 months or a year? I sure as hell can't ever see it happening.

Well, I can see Al, Mike, and even Dave being more than willing and capable of writing a quality album and playing great for a 8 month world tour.

So its really just down to Eddie's state of mind. He may be perfectly happy scoring music for his films now, though.

Yeah, I can see Al, Mike, and Dave or Sam being fine together. It's when you mix Ed with Dave or Sam that problems seem to arise. And I've yet to see any evidence in the last 10 years that leads me to believe they stand each other for the 1 to 1-1/2 years it would take.

shit in a pile and you assembled all the orginal members and whatever. Un-
possible. That chapter has passed. I would only hope Ed would return to
being inspired and inspiring or at least come up with a great song, you know,
like the ole days. But this is me holding my breath...

People thought Sammy would never tour with VH again and it happened. You can't predict what these guys will do a week from now let alone the next few years.

As for mistere's comment "I don't think VH can or ever will be VH again, even IF Ed got his proverbial shit in a pile and you assembled all the orginal members and whatever", I can't understand this thinking. Are you saying because they have changed/aged and what have you that they would not be VH? Then I guess every time they put out a new album that was different it wouldn't be VH. Even bands that stay together change over time, for better or worse. I for one would take the newest incarnation and enjoy it for what it is, 50+ yr old guys trying to make a last run at it. Life is what you make it.

Whenever shit goes wrong in the VH camp it's always been fingers pointed at the lead singers. "Dave's a dick" "Sam doesn't work hard" "Gary is.... uh, Gary"
It really comes down to Ed's inability to ever get along with anyone that he might have to share a spotlight/paycheck with (Sam, Dave, Mike, etc..).

As much as I'd love to see the original line-up together again, Edward has been doing all he can to sabotoge those efforts for about 15 years now.
Dave and Mike should just tell "King Ed" to fuck off once and for all and leave the grumpy drunk alone to score his stupid porn films.

I think those of us who say VH will never be back just mean that anything done from here on out will be forced and probably not very good. The new Hagar songs and tour are good examples.
Just the fact that Dave and the boys can't stay together for any length of time tells you that anything done with him will most likely head south in the same way. In very short order.
