Would you go?
With recent word from Ed stating that he is up for anything concerning touring, I had to question myself... Would I go?
I have been a fan from the beginning, named a dog "halen", worked with the band (Van Hagar) on several occasions, picked up the guitar at the age of 12 because of Ed... These guys, all incarnations, have had a huge influence on my life. That being said, for me, I will have to say "I'm staying home".
It just wouldn't feel right to me anymore. This is not a "hater" post... But, enough is enough for me. I have my records and memories and I'd rather keep them as intact as I possibly can.
Bands have issues all the time. I get it. Roth leaving & Hagar coming in... It happens and I loved both! But for me, the departure of Hagar in 1996 triggered the end. All this back and forth, he's out, he's in, he's out, he's in... The fighting, the egos, the treatment of Mike and not to mention, I really and truley believe that Ed has lost his mind.
At the end of the day, a Van Halen reunion w/ Ed, Al, Dave and "Wolfie" would be like the folks hosting a Xmas dinner together after an ugly divorce just to to be able to hoist a new disgruntled picture on the mantle... And once again after you get your hopes up, mom finds panties in dad's over-coat and the dog is hiding under the couch.
And thus enters another hiatus...
So, would you go?Come on baby, close your eyes, let go
This can be everything we dreamed

Sure, I'd go... but the excitement over this "band" dwindles day by day. It seems all of us pukes at this vhlinks forum have more interest in VH, a record, a tour than Ed. I just don't get that.
Sings like a bird. Rocks like a pig.

Nope
If the tour was to start today, I'd take a pass. Ed's interview with Stern sickens me. I haven't really commented on the whole thing, cuz I just have nothing to say. Here's something I heard once - and I think it applies. It's real simple:
If everyone else is the asshole, you're probably the asshole.
That pretty much sums up Ed.The Barn Burned Down, Now I can See the Moon

no i wouldn't go
now, if he did a new solo thing, i would probably go (depending on if i liked the record), but if he goes out as VH it's gotta be Mike, Ed, Al and whatever singer they get.SOME VH LINKS CLASSICS
"Sammy is fat, Dave is bald, Mike is next in line to be the Pope, Eddie is a drunk, Wolfie is fat, Gary is gay, CVH is VH, Mike is VH, Sammy can outsing Dave on a tequilla hangover, Eddie is a meth head, How Many Say I is the worst VH song ever, Up for Breakfast is a close second, Dave was horrible at radio and everybody hates the assless chaps.
Ok I think that covers everything." Ziggysmalls
"I sense that some of our newer passengers may be nervous due to the sudden turbulence. Please be seated, this is simply a normal part of the periodic ride.
I didn't say we'll get to the destination, but until Alex comes out a says what a complete waste of carbon DLR is, we're still climbing, so strap yourselves in.
Those of you who have been on this ride before, the hottie in the mini will be around shortly with your drinks......." Red

Unless it had Ed, Al, Mike, and Dave in a reunion format, I wouldn't go. I've been to two shows on the reunion tour with Sammy and that's about enough.
But...
If there was a new album (not just three tunes) consisting of Ed and however many others as a band, I would consider going if the music and the vibe was good.Jet City Super Stealth

I support live music, especially if it has to do with any member of VH. Why wouldn't one go if the price is not too steep?
I would be there for sure if it was a true CVH reunion...whatever price.
If the price is right for me, I would go to a "VH" show if it didn't have MA, SH, DLR or whoever else is kicked out or "quit". I am talking less than 50 bucks to see a non-original lineup. That includes if Sam, Mike, Al and Eddie got back together. But that will be a cold day in Hell IMO.Just go for it!

Since all we have is make believe scenarios anyway, I'll weigh in.
If Ed did a solo record and tour with whoever, I'd be there in a heartbeat. But if they went out as Van Halen with Dave and without Mike, not a chance in hell. Al said (paraphrasing) after the 96 re-breakup with Dave that all of that is better left to memories. I'll take him at his word.
No Mike - No show for me.
I spent well over $1,000 (no regrets) on the last tour just to find out they were faking enjoying it, faking the band. That's not what being a band is about and I won't witness that again unless it's something real.VHLinks Fantasy Baseball Champions: 2004, 2009, 2011

Well considering a shit load of people checked them out when they replaced Roth with Hagar why wouldn't you go if it was just Mike who wasn't in the picture. The most popular frontman in rock leaves the band, they reunite with a new singer and everything is fine. Now a guy who plays bass for the same band, and if you were to ask 10 strangers on the street who Michael Anthony is only 1 might be able to tell you, and all of a sudden VH fans have a big problem with it. I like Mike alot and think it would suck if he wasn't in the band but that wouldn't stop me from buying a ticket to see them.
I used to jog but the ice cubes kept falling out of my glass.

Yes, I would go.
I enjoy the music that Eddie creates and if I had a chance to see him one more time, I'd be there.Remember the Heroes - 9/11/01
