It's his therapists fault!

In my opinion Eddie seems to have gotten worse since he started seeing that therapist! Think back to his frustration in the interviews during the Balance era, specifically the Rolling Stone interview. After Sam left his attitude changed about himself and the way he approached Van Halen 3. He even thanked his therapist for helping him deal with his talent and fame and mentioned her in the liner notes of 3.
All of his interviews after Sam were a much different Ed, he became much more into himself. He is definetly not the Ed I remember!
Sure he's had to deal with everything else that's happened to him but if you take her out of the picture, where would Ed and Van Halen be right now?

Therapists mess people up a lot. The same thing happened to someone very close to me. She had no self-esteem at one point and now she's the most selfish person I know. The thing is, she doesn't even realize it. Years of this can really ruin the person you once knew. The problem is that the therapists a lot of time, to get your money, tell you what you WANT to hear and not what you NEED to hear. A good therapist would point out your faults as well as others'. But I do believe most of them take the easy way out and put it on everyone but the person. I can almost guarantee this is what happened to Eddie. There were plenty of other factors, but this is the one that made him the control freak for VH3. The problem with the '04 tour is that Eddie, instead of standing up for himself, went with the flow. He shouldn't have went on that tour. His heart wasn't in it. I mean, the guy calls Stern to promote the porn but not a tour? I don't know about you guys, but I can't do something for long if I'm not into it. It doesn't help that the relationships with Sammy and Mike needed mending and they decided to "forget it." Nobody forgot. So Eddie's problem is letting people convince him to do things he doesn't want to do. The therapy did help him realize that he is his own man, but he still needs to communicate his feelings better instead of waiting until he combusts.
