I've seen this before, but never understood the purpose of it. It looks pretty staged- was this going to be released on video or something. Did they air this back then on tv?

This is on most of the US festival DVDs. I'm 99% sure it was not filmed backstage. For example, Ed's hair is different backstage to when he actually takes the stage. My guess is it was filmed elsewhere and then added to ensure their rep as the ultimate 'party' band. Still good to watch though!

The whole film of the 'backstage' party lasts about 12 minutes. The whole band is on it, just not on this clip.

To my knowledge, this "backstage" event was in fact filmed at Ed's house a week or two prior to the US Fest... It of course is all staged etc. They set up a tent on Ed's property. Kind of cheesy to me , but when I was 17 I ate this stuff up. I have a boot of this and the show....

You need to see the whole video to see Dave.
He is seen later behind a curtain with a lady friend bent over a piano.
You'll laugh when you see it, Cuz it's obviously staged and cheesy.
But, again, I must say, when I was a kid, I bought into all of it and still love VH for their fun side. Oh the good ol' days (pre internet) when you waited months just to hear anything about the band.
Does anyone remember Creem Magazine or Hit Parader?
