Default Which Eddie do you prefer

Alright, I already know I shouldn't do this. And I'm sure somebody has done it already. But in light of the Stern interview this morning, I'm doing it anyway.

Which Eddie do you prefer? Think of it like the Elvis question before Elvis' stamp was released.

First, you have the young Eddie:

    http://www.celebrityrockstarguitars....-Van-Halen.jpg

Then, you have the fat Eddie:

    http://eddievanhalen.iespana.es/edd.jpg

And of course you have the current Eddie (OFF HIS FUCKING ROCKER):

    http://www.seacoastconnects.com/foru...1&d=1141662497

    So which does everybody prefer?

    "THOSE WERE THE DDDDDDDAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYSSSSSSSS!!!!"

    What the "F" happenned? Sad.

I think in between 1984-1986 was the best time for eddie as well as for the whole band. I always felt he was the most happy, no-ego, and best musically during that time. he really seemed to be enjoying his life not to mention that was the most successful time for them.

    1986 - 1995 were my favorite years.

He was the older brother that I never had. Beautiful wife, cars and houe...A great band...Always smiling and goofing.

If you would have told me who he later became, I would have never believed it.

Fat Eddie.. Ha ha... That makes me laugh. He actually looks healthy back then in 95. Healthy and happy.

I will take Ed from 86 to 96..... But I will emphasize the Balance era as my favorite. His chops were freakin RAZOR SHARP back then....

the last image is so disengenious. could have been a better thread with one of his recent video photos.

I swear that last photo is bullshit and posting it is so fucking lame. it's a bad photo and it's typical pop smear not to mention it is so trite at this point. i'm sorry i responded.

My favorite Ed was from 1978-1995. It's a long time frame, but I personally didn't see drastic change in his performance. Sure, during Van Hagar he eased up a little but still delivered some killer riffs. If I had to pick though, I'd go Fat Eddie (Yeah, fat my ass). He didn't have the hair and he didn't do any showman stuff on stage. That usually doesn't make a difference to me, but when I see him play in '95, it seems like someone I know. Just so normal, like your average dude. I thought that was cool. His playing was phenomenal in '95 as well, album and tour.

But my real vote would be '78-'95 Ed.
In and out. I didn't even make that pun on purpose.

There was a "Fat Ed" photo floating around, years ago. It was snapped at a golf tourny that EVH sponsored. He (EVH) had invited Neil Young, and they were photographed together. One of Ed's legs was a big as my waist, I'm not kidding.

I prefer the young EVH, where he's pictured in his twenties. I too was optimistic and looked good then, before women, drugs and alcohol took effect.

    LMFAO!

"Fat Ed"? You gotta be kidding me. How about "HEALTHY ED".

Too much time on your hands to sit there picking your nose thinkin about "which Ed do I like the most." Ed is still Ed, no matter what pic you stare at there. He's the same damn person, just older and obviously showing his age - big deal. It's one thing to ask our peers here which era, album, singer, etc. we prefer but damn, asking which Ed do we like? Don't see the point in it...

I like the younger Eddie, that grin of his :sigh: But I liked Eddie a little chubby. Like in the Poundcake and Runaround video...he was cute.

Ed was a little chubby around '91-'93. In my opinion he looked good and healthy in '95. I actually liked the short hair. Now he just looks like a junkie.
