If an asteroid was about to hit Earth...
I was watching one of those "Ten Horrible Ways One Could Die" shows the other evening, and an interesting question was put forth: If the Earth was to be struck by an asteroid (in say, like three days) that would guarantee the extinction of man, what would you do as your final acts upon Earth?
My response would involve fucking at some point, more than likely with someone I'd conceivably never have the opportunity to engage otherwise, along with various sporting and partying activities, like driving a race car around a speedway in Texas while drinking something expensive and sharing a hash-bong with Fasty or Lode while Pert or Sucka mix the drinks in the back seat, then attending a Bar-B-Q with the Texas Linkers (among others from the links) in the infield, and jamming with various other friends from here on a giant, very loudly amplified and well instrumented stage assembled there.
Some wind surfing and sailing would also be involved, and as much partying material as possible.
So if you knew you were about to shed this mortal coil and were absolved of all responsibility in this regard, how would you spend your final days? (And yes, hedonism is welcome. )Last edited by chefcraig; 09.01.06 at 09:04 AM.

CC, I've given this great thought in the past....and I came to a conclusion.
I would get a cooler full of rolling rock, a bottle of absolute, find a comfy lawn chair, and wait it all out in my front yard.
I'd hope that the resulting chaos would strike me down pretty quick.
If I had a few days extra notice, then I'd try and do a few good deeds....if not, then pull up a chair!

Hey Chef - I think I might have caught the same show or something similiar called 7 Ways The World Could End on 20/20 Thursday. While a bit depressing, it does get one thinking about priorities if there was limited time. Would I tell my kids and/or give them something so that they would sleep through it, would I do something really crazy like take off for CA to try to meet EVH or just stay drunk floating around in a pool eating lobster at every meal with VH blaring as loud as the stereo will go? If I had a few days, probably as much of those things as possible although if you're throwing a party for the linkers, that might be at the top of the list.

Um, let's see.
Tell everyone I love them and to look for me on the other side. Oh, and please forget what I do before the event because I was so stressed I lost control.
Drive as fast as possible
Then,
Drink
Drink
Weed
Eat
Drink
Drink
Weed
Eat
Oral
Oral
Oral
Bang
Bang
Oral
Oral
Bang
That's about it. Sorry to be so tasteless, but if the world was ending, I wouldn't care anyway.

Well if I'm goin I'm goin out happy!
J/K! I thought of George Kennedy for some reason.
I'd hold my children and tell them I love them and hold them as close to me as I could. I'd try and contact all of my family members to tell them the same. Then I'd go to my sister's house with my children to wait it out and hope I'd still be able to be with them where ever we end up.
Man whatta mind-blowing topic. I almost watched that show but switched to Inked instead.
EDIT: I'd also hug all of my VH albums and hopefully they'd make the trip with me.Last edited by smithjc; 09.01.06 at 10:25 AM.

I'd grab a flight to England and hook up with SEA at her local watering hole! Then off to Texas to find TP and KT. Then home to make sure the lawn is cut. Then off to see Van Halen on OLO's deck. I am assuming they would play one last show for the fans and I assume they would pick the best possible venue.
(and yes I am aware it would be quicker to start in Texas but I am trying to take advantage of the time zones. Three days is going to go by quick so I am going to start at the furthest point east and then work west.)Signature not currently available. You aren't missing much.

Steal a freight train. Then drive it across country and park it deep in a tunnel. I'd use the supplies in the box cars to keep me alive. Then, in a few years I dig myself out of the tunnel and rule the world.

An old girlfriend of mine once gave me a bookmark in Spanish that read something along the lines of "If the world was to end tomorrow Today I would plant a tree". I think she was out of hers and told her so but I would want to make sure my shirt was clean.......which leads me to a true family story.
Back in the early 1900's my great grandfather, a waiter and part time boxer, left Glasgow and decided to get work in London. His blind mother helped him pack his bags (she knew he boxed but never let on) and said goodbye. He walked through a bad winter and developed hypothermia. With no money left for food he decided that if he was going to die by the side of the road he would wear his best suit. He unpacked and put on the suit and when he put the socks on he found money. His blind mother had saved all the boxing money he had given to her, saying it was tips from waiting tables, and put it there. This money allowed him a room and a meal and the rest of the journey to London. There he married and the rest is history.
Yeah I know, corny story, but I think it said something about his character.
Off topic kind of but what the fuck.
