I have been a fan of Vh since before I was old enough to go to concerts. I have owned all the VH CDs/Tapes at one time or another(my life is so busy and hectic that small items often get lost in the shuffle or broken by accident). I have listened to the band put out sheer genious and I have also heard my share of crap, cheese or whatever the warring parties call it. To me, this was a band that was going to be around forever. I was wrong.
Since 1996, VH has been nothing more than a whisper in the wind. We keep hearing this and that from all kinds of people and little from the Brothers themselves. We believe, out of desperate hope, that they are coming back and that the latest flavor of the month rumor is true. At least, even if we think the rumor is complete bullcrap, we still want to believe something good is about to happen. Whether the argument is Sam or Dave or singer #4, people just want that piece of VH that they miss back. Whether it is Eddie aweing us with his latest riffs, Alex booming some double bass drums, or Mike ripping it up on bass, we just want them to do something. The feelings are mixed as to who should step behind the microphone. A lot of people want Roth, a lot of people want Sammy, and poor Gary is not even mentioned. I hated VHIII, but I don't hate him for it. Then some of you have been speculating on singer #4. The more Sammy and Dave open their mouths the less sure I am of us getting a familiar flavor of Halen back. I like classic Halen the best. I can dig Hagar era VH when they are jamming out something like Judgement Day or Mine all mine, regardless of the lyrics. Sappy sweet love song VH never impressed me. If I want love songs, I can check out the latest R&B or country offerings. This is rock and roll. The point of my rant is this: Enough is enough with all the rumors and speculations and even the singer wars. Nobody wins with that stuff. The rumor writers are 99.99 fraudulent and it just gets gullible people's hopes up and pisses them off. Speculations are another thing that should be left by the wayside as far as VH is concerned. This band has proven to us that they don't do what the fans want or even speculate what they are going to do. Further, unless you are in the VH camp, it is just about impossible for the average person to make any kind of accurate statememts about what the band is going to do. So why do some of you take such pleasure in story telling?? And why are some you so damn gullible? Let's remember kids, this is the damn internet and anybody can and does write any kind of lies they want.
I just have grown so tired of the VH soap opera and he said/she said of it all that I just am starting not to care anymore about them or the singers. New music needs to be done. New musical heights need to be conquered. And yet, we have the band fighting over this or that with past singers or bashing by both sides in the press over spilled milk events of the past. We have two past singers who think they need to keep throwing salt into old wounds. Is Dave in or out this week?? Did Sammy turn them down again for a reunion?? Was the 1996 Sammy fiasco indeed caused by Ray Daniels?? Who's Roth's eddie clone this week?? You know, I just don't care anymore. I don't see the VH brothers as being relavent until they reform the band in some way shape or form. Eddie may very well be the greatest guitarist to ever live, but if he ain't playing, what good is that?? Alex may be the best drummer(in some people's minds), but what good is that if he ain't pounding those skins. Mike, well, Mike is playing old VH songs with Sammy, so he is at least doing something. Dave and Sam are running their mouths about VH this and Vh that, and the more they talk, the more I see them as desperate yet bitter. Each one talks about the possibility of being back in the band or whatever and then turns around and slams the Vh brothers. Does this make any frickin' sense to you?? Enough is enough. I wish all the key players would keep their traps shut and stop all this diarhea of the mouth. Actions speak louder than words. If you care to be back in the band, then fucking act like it. If you don't, so be it. This is the dumbest bunch of shit I have ever experienced in life. Soap operas actually seem a little more like real life in comparison to the weekly VH news or speculation.Van Halen without the original 4 is just not Van Halen.

And EVH quote comes to mind...
"Popstars, they come and go--musicians make music until the day they die."
I think Eddie's just relaxing, having fun playing music. It may seem selfish, but after 20 years of performing and playing...he does deserve it. Who knows if he'll be back, but hey, they gave us some good times.

I read these rumors and hold onto hope because I know people can move on, and I also know people can get their shit together and do great things when they put their minds to it, and work together. I try to sort out the bullshit when going through the rumor mill, and it can be entertaining, and sometimes funny.
I met DiamondD from here and at the Dome and we went to the Sam and Dave show in SL. Here's a guy I don't know jackshit about, only what I've seen him say on the computer screen. I figured he dug the same music as I did, and we had a great trip along with one of his buds from where he lives, and he was about like I figured he'd be from his posts.
I try to have a little faith that most people here are on the up and up, and they post as they would talk to you in a normal situation. I know there are a handful of whack-jobs on the loose, crazies posing to have it together, people who have it together posting as if they are out of their minds, and extroverts become on screen introverts and vice-versa. Not really my scene, but part of the scenery, so I take it in, when I'm in the area. No blood, no foul.
As far as these fucking trolls who have nothing better to do in their life than cruise the chat rooms and boards and stir up shit, all I can do is think how empty their fucking lives are. Most of us come here to shoot the shit about VH's music and all the shit that goes along with being a VH fan, so it's not like we need anymore bullshit than we already have, but the troll post is just part of our day, just like guys refining the art of the nut scratch, and women somehow figuring out how to fart where the sound is below the sound of detection and the smell odorless.
Do what you gotta do to get you through the day while I scratch my nutsack, and surely somewhere some fine piece of ass is silently letting loose her flatulence and looking good all the while, and no one is the wiser.

and there He found a spark to set this fucker off!
Set it off, set it off now children, set if off!
We are down the road! I Can Dig It! Can You?

I sometimes feel like the vhforum is a support group. It amazes me that so much emotion can be stirred up about this band until I realize the emotion this band has always exemplified can't help but spill over. We're VH fans because of the feeling that this music stirs in us and as a result we're as passionate in our veiws about the band as we get because of the band. After all is said and done though... enough is enough. I'll wait until something happens and hope for the best. They're music (any "era") brings out the best in me and I'll do my best to be patient.

I've actually started to view this board as kind of a support group too. We've been through it all together. We've all experienced the music and the bullshit. We obviously love these guys, or we would waste endless hours on here trying to sort out this mess. One thing that Alexfan said really struck me. Dave and Sam really do both tease us with semi-positive statements about "maybe seeing what they could do", or "A reunion at some point is inevitable". Then, they turn around and bash Ed and Al, who haven't said a damn thing positive or negative for almost 5 years!!! I also agree that they both also come off sounding rather desperate at times, albeit in an obtuse way. I can't say how desperate Sam is, because he does have something going, but Dave is reaching closer and closer to pure desparation everyday. Maybe that's good, maybe that's bad, but hey, at least we've got some kind of live VH music to listen to this summer!! Despite what people may believe about VH being dead and what-not, I can't imagine the Ed, Al, Mike, Dave and Sammy that I grew up with ending their careers without each other. I refuse to belief that VH is dead and gone yet. It might be on life support, but it's still got some fight in it... at least that's my opinion.

I love our perception of entertainers. "He has performed for 20 years so he deserves a break". Paaaaleeeeese. Like most of us we work 3 or 4 hours a day 6 or 7 months a year for 20 years and then take 5 years off. Hell, people got pissed when Bush took 3 weeks off and he's the freakin president yet people think a guitar player has earned 5 years off.
Entertainers never 'deserve' a 5 year break if they expect people to continue to support their lifestyles. Artist should want to produce art, those who don't cease to be artist.

I agree about the whole 5 years off thing, we all know that he had cancer, but he could have at least released some songs that had not previously been released. VH is bound to have some unreleased material, hell just release it and give us fans something.
Lets Hope VH gets some Sensible Shoes that lead them back to Dave.

It seems like it is going to be difficult for Ed to release anything at this point. Being that VH no longer have a label or even a band for that matter.

The ongoing VH saga is a soap opera because we, the fans, make it so.
Time for a reality check.
VH "WAS" a great band and the music had a great impact on us all.
What's left of VH lives on a hill and is wealthy enough to kick back and enjoy the fruits of life without have to worry about punching a timeclock.
VH doesn't give a flyin' fuck about you or me and they don't owe us anything.
Conversely, we laid our money down and bought what they were selling. It was a done deal and both parties got what they wanted in the end.
Now the music has ended.
I, for one, choose to say goodbye and good luck to VH. No hard feelings VH, but I don't owe you Jack shit either. Loyalty? What's that? In order to have loyal fans you have to give something back in return. You have to show the fans that you really care.
VH, you don't give a damn about your fans. Please don't bother putting out anymore music on my account. I don't care if your next album sounds great and smells like good pussy, I am just not interested anymore.
The one thing I am really sick of is reading all these posts from these so called VH fans who proclaim their alliegience to the band and flame all those who would speak their minds and talk negatively about the Dutch Gods. You must think that VH actually reads all your posts and keeps score on who the good fans and bad fans are. It just ain't so. As far as I am concerned, VH has said to its fans, by it's non-actions alone,
FUCK YOU ALL.... we don't give a shit about you. We've got ours.
HEY VH ... FUCK YOU TOO! You're not even relevant anymore. OY YEH....and thanks for that VH III piece of shit...great album (not!) Hey ED,,,nice job singing on that one...yeh..right. I use mine as a coaster. I paid my $$ for that piece of crap and I have a right to slam it. It fucking blows goats.
So to all of you dyed in the wool true to the core VH fans out there ... flame me all you want to you brainwashed morons because this is my last fucking post on any VH board.
the only good humans to come out of that band are Mike and Sammy. The rest can do hammer-ons in hell!If it ain't broken ... break it!<br />"Futzbutton"<br /><br />Pick a number and don't tell me what it is.<br /><br />OK..now add 47 to it. Now subract 13 from it. you are thinking of the number 57 ..right?<br /><br />NO? you're NOT?<br /><br />Fuck!
