This is the roster as it stood at the end of last year. We now have confirmation that all ten teams will be back. Please choose your 4 keepers so I can start figuring out how to get these guys back in to the waiver wire virtually and planning the details of our draft.

Also, I'm not sure what good it does to have everyone identify their 4 keepers at this point if we're going to allow trades. If we're only allowing trades between the actual keepers selected, that's different from the original proposal. My original intent was to allow people to upgrade their keepers through trades, and then designate their keepers after the trades. Otherwise, it seems kind of meaningless. But whatever people decide is ok with me.

Semantics I guess. It doesn't make sense to me why anybody would trade 3 or 4 sub par (when compared to the 4) players for one keeper when the recipient of the 3 or 4 won't get to keep them all anyways. Give me a scenario please. I think maybe I just don't get what it is you're saying is all.

Here's my post from last year's thread:

Since we are having a 4-person keeper league next year, here's an idea that I thought I'd throw out:

As a way to add some hot stove interest to the start of the upcoming offseason, we could have a two week period after the season ends (Wednesday night) where teams can make trades before freezing their rosters and picking their four keepers. This would allow teams to make moves that maximize the value of their keepers. For instance, let's say that Team A has five players worthy of being kept, but Team B only has three. They may want to do a 2 for 1 trade where Team A sends two very good players to Team B in exchange for one better player. Team A gains because the four he keeps are better than the four he would have had without the trade and Team B gains because his four now include two very good players instead of a great one and a total schmuck.

Also, it allows people who value players differently to make deals.
Let's say that Team A thinks a player is going to make a full recovery from an injury while Team B doesn't think he will. Teams A and B may be able to make a trade that makes both Teams A and B happy. Similarly, Team A may think a player is too old and will decline while Team B thinks he has one more great year left in him.

Might be a way to add a little bit of fun to the end of the year. Thoughts?

See the bold text above and I'll try to come up with a hypothetical scenario.

Let's use your team as an example, and assume that you have identified 5 players who could be keepers - let's say, Arenas, Bosh, Gasol, Iverson, and Wallace. Let's say another manager, like Scotty, could come up with 4 keepers, but he really thinks that he has only 3 players worth keeping - Amare, Wallace, and Carter. In this scenario, you could trade 2 of your 5 potential keepers (Iverson and Wallace, for example) to Scotty in exchange for one of Scotty's best keepers (Amare, for example). Then, after the trade, your keepers would be:

Scotty: Wallace, Carter, Iverson, Wallace

In order for this to work, you'd have to allow trades before setting keepers.
