What do they mean by "original artwork" and "liner notes?"<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>I'm not sure exactly, but for example there are individual pics of each member on the dust jacket of the VH 1 album that aren't in the CD booklet. Also there is a montage of photos on the dust jacket of the Diver Down album that isn't in the DD CD booklet. Of course, in the DD case, these pictures are very small and black and white in the LP, so they'd be very hard to see in a CD booklet, so I don't know what they plan to do about that.

The first 4 VH CDs have short liner notes in them. Now they will probably extend them and put them on all of the remastered CDs. They will most likely talk about the songs, tours, album chartings, etc. I agree with glenn on the artwork. They won't leave any of it out.

I didn't think the first had liner notes. There aren't any in my mine.

<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>The first Van Halen album has liner notes. It thanks a bunch of people including Gazzari's, Gene Simmons and Dr. Roth. But like I said above, the LP version also has extra pictures of the band that look like they were taken as they came off stage. The picture of Dave is very dark and hard to see, but very cool looking.

Glenn about the pictures in Diver Down I think they will make that one and maybe all of them fold outs (Meaning you have to fold them up multiple times to make a perfect square.)Like a state map. That kind of setup.

He's a great guitar player, but I'm more impressed by his recent songwriting and keyboard work. I think he's going to be remembered. He could be the next Cole Porter. - Ritchie Blackmore, Deep Purple
Eddie Van Halen is a good guitar player. He's entitled to all the adulation he can acquire. - Frank Zappa
Al and I are the real Van Halen. There could always be Van Halen as long as it's me and Al. But if there was no Dave, this place would be pretty empty tonight. - EVH during a 1984 pre-concert interview before that night's sold out show

<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>Yeah, I know what you mean. Personally I don't like those type of foldouts. I'd rather just have the standard CD booklet with the staples in it, and have the pictures put on seperate pages. Those foldouts always end up destroyed and hard to get back in. If you've got Steve Vai's Passion and Warfare, you'll know what I mean. I'm not sure how viable my idea would be with that number of pictures, but it would be my preference.

Has anyone heard if it's just the VH/Roth albums, or will they do 5150 and OU812 too?

<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>I'm wondering that myself, as I'm sure most of us are. Didn't the original article mention sound quality being poor on albums up to the end of the 80's? I thought it said something to that effect, which would lead me to believe they are going to go up to OU812. I hope that's true.

I hope they do remaster 5150 and OU812, they both were analog recordings. Sure would be nice if they would push up some bass on OU812. I guess they would have to "re-mix" it in order for that to happen though.

Well the article said that there would be 20 albums - divided between VH, Eric Clapton, Rod Stewart and Dire Straits if I remember correctly. That would lead me to believe that it would only be the first six, maybe even only 5. How many albums did Dire Straits have before Brothers In Arms - I would think their's would be the ones before that. But it also said WB was probably going to be doing this quarterly, which means that there should be another batch in December (just in time for Christmas, kiddies!) which is why I wish Bradman had been able to be more informative about the Van Halen side of things on his site. Oh, well, I should think we'll know in a few weeks when Billboard posts the new releases for September. As far as the inserts, I think you're going to have a losing battle Glenn when it comes to "Women And Children First" - no way I can see 'em doing the Dave poster without it being a fold up unless they just make it a very small picture on one of the pages. Just don't keep opening the doggone thing and it will stay in one piece!

Billy007, I'd totally forgotten about that poster in the WACF album. I've never actually seen it, although I've seen a picture of Dave taken by Helmut Newton in a photography book that may be the same photo. I was referring to individual photos like the Diver Down LP, but since they obviously wouldn't put in a picture that's poster size, maybe it would just be down to the size of a CD booklet. Who knows, but I'm very eager to find out.

I guess they could do it over two pages and set it landscape. Still you lose something when you go from 36"X24" down to 10"X5"! If they did the foldout, they could do 15"X10". And the Diver Down sleeve would go from 12"X12" to 10"X10", but I'd prefer that they enlarge (and dare I say colour) the pictures and spread 'em over several pages. Did that guy send you that colour collage that contained some of the pictures from Diver Down?
