Help fight Cancer

Hello, Most of you probably don't know me because I hardly ever post, but I've been around for a long time and I check this sight daily so I feel like I know alot of you. Recently my wife's grandfather died of leukemia. While this was a sad event for our family we are using it as motivation to do something positive for others. We have decided to join an organization called Team in Training (TNT) which is part of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, a non-profit organization dedicated entirely to finding a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma. TNT is a training program that helps train you to participate in a marathon for leukemia and lymphoma research. We are hoping to be ready for the PF Chang marathon in Phoenix, AZ on January 14. GOOD LUCK! My wife is doing the same thing with TNT. She's training for the Nike's Womens Marathon in San Francisco in October. We'll check out your site. If you need any ideas on trying to raise funds, she might be able to help. I just raised $300 outside of a grocery store this past Saturday in 4 hours time. I know some people that stand in front of Wal-Marts around the area and have collected as much as $900 in one day. People are pretty generous when it comes to this. But it is very difficult to meet your goal unless you have a lot of rich friends (and we don't).

We are also having a yard sale and all of our proceeds will go to TNT. We are asking all of our friends that if they have anything that is just taking up space that they'd like to just get rid of, we'd take it and try to sell it.

You've probably asked everybody, but ANYONE you could think of. Kind of sounds rough, but this is hard to do folks! Your workplace, anyone from your family's workplace. Companies who you use their products. Any friends with any connections to any source of publicity will help you as well. Flyer postings as many places as you can. We've got friends that did bowling tournaments, golf scrambles, car shows, etc. My wife use to be a hair stylist and is still licensed to do so. We were going to set up shop at home or rent a space at our community park, but I don't think we have time now. I think the yardsale will accomplish her goal.
