"Are We Alive or Just Breathing?" -- The Killswitch Engage Thread!

Who else here digs this band? I am anxiously awaiting the follow up to the End of Heartache, but I'm guessing it could be quite a while. Either way, I've been rocking out to their first record lately and must say it is outrageous. Everybody in the group is a solid musician and both guitar players went to the Berklee School of Music, which IMO says they are damn good within itself. They put together solid riffs and good melodies and the vocals from both singers they've had are outrageous. I definitely recommend going to their website and checking out the downloads. You can listen to My Last Serenade from the first record, and Rose of Sharyn from the second, both very good tunes. My favs of theirs are the Element of One and Rise Inside from the stuff with Jesse, and Hope Is...and A Bid Farewell from the Howard era. Both their major label releases are definitely worth picking up!

Agreed...I think Howard's voice is better than Jesse's, but the music and lyrics on the whole are better with Jesse. That said, I still love the stuff w/Howard and think he kicks ass, but Jesse is an unbelievable lyricist.

New CD will be out this fall. You should check out Howard's other band Blood Has Been Shed.

I agree on the DVD. I think it's one of the best DVDs I've seen a band do. The documentary on it is really good as well. Their stage show is very good and the playing is solid. I have no idea when a new album is coming out though. Overcast just did a reunion and recorded some old and new songs for an album, and Killswitch is out on tour for a few months in Europe. Hopefully they'll be ready to start recording again right after that. I know Shadows Fall is recording in September, so that should be pretty sweet.

KsE just announced their release date for the new album...it comes out in mid-November, and Mike D claims that its sound is more like Alive or Just Breathing as opposed to The End of Heartache. Should be pretty sweet. He said they plan on going on a headlining tour around that time as well.

Tour dates are starting to come from KsE. The best part about it is not only that they are headlining, but that Shadows Fall is their support. MY GOD, this tour is going to kick ass. The tour is starting in the beginning of November!

A song from the new album, "Daylight Dies," has been posted on the Roadrunner website. Unfortunately I feel somewhat disappointed by it. I hope its not representative of the entire album, although it is the title track. It is nothing like Alive or Just Breathing and it really doesn't seem very heavy either. "My Curse" is the shit. Look for it on your friendly neighborhood p2p program.
Heavy and memorable. Has a Metallica "Load" vibe in one of the riffs. As heavy as the early stuff? not at all. They are getting more mainstream but I don't mind.
Just growing the fanbase. "This Is Absolution" is heavier if you like the old stuff more. Can't wait for the new cd

Just finished watching "World Ablaze" DVD - cool stuff. The guitarist who screams every now and then is a lil bit retarded but, who aint , cool show cool crowd, nicely produced as well. I usually start to get tired after watching long live vids for the first time but this one kinda amused me, especially since I'm not this familiar with their stuff yet.

It's a really good live video. Going to see them with Shadows Fall next month, should be pretty sweet. The documentary on that DVD, "From the Bedroom to the Basement," is very good as well.

Just saw KsE over the weekend and they were awesome. My neck is still sore and you would've thought I'd just gotten out of the shower when I walked out of the show. The sound was great, Adam D. had some hilarious dialogue going throughout, it was everything I'd expected from them.

On a side note, I was very disappointed that Shadows Fall had to back out of the tour on such late notice, as I like them even more than KsE. But All That Remains did a good job filling in and it was cool to see them. Other than that, KsE played 3 new songs and they were fantastic, I can't wait for the new album...it comes out next week, 11/21. They didn't really play any deep cuts from Alive or Just Breathing except for 1, and I prefer that album tremendously. So there was no Vide Infra or the Element of One, which were the 2 songs I most desperately wanted to hear. Overall though, a great show!

You can't skip around though, you have to listen beginning to end. They also have a few new songs and older ones posted on their official website. If you're reading this and you've never heard KsE, go listen. I guarantee, they will be the biggest metal band in the world at some point, write it down.

It boggles my mind that, for instance, an emo-ish act like Avenged Sevenfold gets so much credit when lyrically, and musically, they cannot touch Killswitch. I urge everyone to check this band out. They've been able to make metal and hardcore mesh with fantastic riffs, death metal elements, and fantastic melodies like no other band.

Okay so if Zacky and Synyster wear eyeliner and pose gay A7X is instantly emo-ish ? I personally can't stand Avenged Sevenfold and it gives me a kick when they're put anywhere near emo, because they're nowhere near that. They're further from emo than from Killswitch Engage . Lol.
