Iced Tea in Jack Bottles?

I have read a lot of interviews where some musicians bash Dave and Mike for faking the Jack Daniels chugging and it was iced tea. However I find that odd as Dave was always the one who dissed The Clash when it was discovered they faked it.

what is the deal? i don't think they faked it obviously by Dave's vince neil kinda not singing every lyric and being slack in 83, 84 as he sometimes is clearly intoxicated in most recordings.

There is a famous photo of Jimmy Page backstage taking a mighty swig out of a Jack Daniels bottle. He is later shown the same evening sitting on an airplane (The Starship, rented by Zeppelin) watching the film "The Girl Can't Help It" featuring Little Richard, seated next to Robert Plant and clutching the same bottle.

Plant admitted recently that the bottle was a prop, filled with Coca-Cola.

No doubt the boys were buzzing at numerous concerts in those days, but I never thought it was really JD in the bottle. Think about it this way...they are sweating their ass off from performing...who wants to take a drink of JD when you are hot and sweaty? Now a cold beer is a different story.

I disagree. He splashed alot of it out as he was chugging it (made quite a mess). I bet he didn't even get half of it, which as much as they partied would be easily doable. When I drank a bit much I could put down way over a pint very quick and you'd never know it. I bet it was real.

Are you saying the Clash actually drank JD onstage

I think Dave just sarcastically and drunkenly said since the Clash was all uptight when being interviewed at the US Festival press conference.

I myself drink a bottle of Jim Beam everynight I play. about 20 nights a month. Once you develop tolerance, it's quite easy. I dip a can of Skoal everyday too. Never thought I'd get that bad either.
