    Default TV Guide Sammy Interview

I just a Sammy interview on a show called "The 411" on the TV Guide Channel. He talked about his new tour and Cabo. He talked a little about how Dave is a "strange guy".

He was asked if he would do a reunion with Van Halen. He said "I'd do it in a second". The interview was cut so it's hard to say what else he said but it seemed as if he was talking positively about Van Halen. There was no mention of the other half.

I'm theorizing he's maybe heard some rumors of a VH reunion with Dave and he might be feeling a little nervous. He may not want to be in Van Halen right now because of Ed's current state, but he might not want to give up his position to Dave.

If Sammy played with VH again would it be called a reunion?

Around the beginning of the 2004 deal, The TV Guide channel did a two minute segment on the tour, featuring a small amount of live footage and a brief backstage interview with EVH, yet it was not shown every hour.

The drawback to viewing this was having to sit through the clueless, babbling dumbfucks who seem to actually believe that they are the reason anyone tunes into the channel in the first place. Dearest Christ, SHUT UP ALREADY, I just wanna know what's on ESPN!
"The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man."

If Eddie at least semi sobers up and then they get back together (Eddie , Alex and Michael with Dave), then this would be worth checking out. Anything other than this would be a big waste of time. Enough with the "reunions" with Hagar. Most of the VH fans want to see the original lineup back together one more time for a CD and a tour. Hopefully they do this before they start to hit 60 years old.

If they do something with Sam, it wouldn't be a reunion. As far as everybody concerned, I think Sam is still their singer (kinda, at least no announcement to the contrary from them). And hell, I think Sam is about 60.
But, if they were to do something with Sam, it would have to be an album. We've already seen that reunion. And to say that would be a big waste of time is dumb. Everybody on this site would buy a new VH record -- with Sam, Dave, Gary, whoever. Be honest about that.
A lot of people want to see the original lineup back together -- and it would be great (if Dave isn't as bad as he was between 1984-2002). It certainly would have more interest at this board, but I think outside of fervent VH fans, interest in this has waned substantially.
Quite honestly, I'm not sure VH can do anything relevant (in the public's eye) no matter who's at the mic.
But here's hoping for something from the boys in 2007 -- it's just hard to believe it until we see it with these guys.

As far as I am concerned, and many other VH fans that I know are concerned, it would be a waste of time to have another go round with Sammy. In addition to this, if Eddie plays like he did on the 2004 tour it would be a disappointment no matter who the singer is.

I would not buy a new VH record with Sammy if the songs were anything like those 3 crappy songs they recorded before the 2004 tour. The music was OK but the lyrics, especially on "Up For Breakfast" and "It's About Time". were dreadful. I am not a Sammy Hagar fan. I attended VH concerts with Sammy in the past for 3 reasons:

    1) Eddie Van Halen
    2) Alex Van Halen
    3) Michael Anthony

If other people like Sammy Hagar and want to see him in VH then that is cool too. I just can't handle him.

They only toured 2 years ago with Sammy, he is still listed on the "official waste of bandwidth" as being in the band.
So NO, a tour and album with Sammy wouldn't be a "reunion", it would be a "continuation".

A tour with Dave or Gary for that matter WOULD be a reunion.

But having not been overly inspired by their last work with Sammy, I want to see what Dave can bring in 2006.
As badly as Ed's playing was alot of the time on the last tour, you can't put blame on those 3 new songs on him. Musically they were pretty damn good.
The lyrics sucked, LTS was the best song and was never played on radio.

    Who are you?
Oh wise one who can speak so authoritatively about what "most fans" want.
I can't get over it, every couple of monthes some new folks like yourself pop in to enlighten us about "what most fans want".
It inevitably has something to do with Dave.

Now i realize no one is asking, but my guess is most Van Halen fans around here want Van Halen to make some music, and we don't much give a shit if Sam, Dave, Gary, Pert, Lode or Squal is singing.
Just get out and do it.

I think most folks like yourself want Dave to sing with the big boys again, cause it sucks having to be a fan of a guy who can't hold a job.

If he comes back fine, you'll have the chance to see what no doubt you've only seen it at least 22 year old videos. And i'm sure you'll get a big hard on, but really, any ol' asshole can do a leg kick.
The true point will be, one of the greatest ever bands is back playing again.
